Hi kuromisa! Thanks for the heads up. It's all pretty new and confusing but I'm getting the hang of it. I hope I can contact you if I have any questions and hope you have a great new years too.

I still couldn't edit my highlight wallpaper. What should I do? (I can't say thank you for the highlight under my wallpaper =_=)

Oh, Happy New Year for you! :)

Do not post the link here or this thread will be closed! Thanks!

My mistake, oh well.
I'll just keep looking by myself then.

Hi Silvana11 :)

There is no facebook group on Minitokyo, but there's a Minitokyo group on Facebook.

When you go to Facebook, seach for "Minitokyo" and under groups you will find "Minitokyo.net-ers" :)

Ahh, ups I just misunderstood XD Guess I was a little tired hehe.. But thanks :)

Hahaha... busy-ish, huh?

Quote by kuroimisaHey entity!

About the scan you asked about in the Wintry WL thread, I think it'd be a good idea to tweak the icicles a bit to look like icebergs (eg. flatter top, or showing the water it's floating on), since icebergs are typically floating bits in water ^^;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iceberg

From the pictures in the wiki article though, you can probably make those icicles the side of an iceberg. Anyway, it's up to you, but hopefully it's possible to make them look icebergy, if that's okay ^_^'

That's okay, Kuro-sama, I don't think I can really edit the scan all that well...I'll try to add some ocean. If I can't, I just won't submit it for the article. >.<

Kuroimisa
Thank you for the advice on my 'installing problems...' thread. Sadly, it didn't help any, but I appreciated it anyway.

Quote by Kuroimisa I'm happy that you chose to go for a different background rather than the red in the original scan (not that red's bad) - it makes it seem refreshing in a way to see a different interpretation of it :3

Seriously excellent vector (I can't believe it's the first X-P) and the elements put together makes this pleasing on the eyes. Also very nice use of texture. :D Thanks for the great wallpaper!

Hello Kuroimisa!
Thank you so much for the nice comment! I'm very glad to know that :)
I wanted to change the background because i didn't want to make all those roses, I wanted something different, so I decided to make it simple and original.
I practiced a bit on other scans before making this one, some outlines and base colors, and then I decided to make vector of your scan, i'm glad you enjoyed the work. :)
Take Care! :)

Sorry for the late reply, Ephie! I've been doing a lot of random things away from the computer >.<

Yep. Jak and Ken told me it's just in Edit > Preferences and you can specify the amount it uses :) It works slightly better than before :)

Ahh Rococo and Bauhaus >_< We got a crash course on the Bauhaus (whole modernist movement) but we learn about many late modernists (Frank Lloyd Wright, International Style, PostModernism). Sounds interesting! I always like it when art crosses with architecture :D

Hahahaha well it's their job to make our lives harder >.< Seriously, that's what my course convenor said T_T ... it's to make us learn ;-;

Haha yep! I feel like going back to it because it seems so serious :nerd:

No, it's okay! :)

We learnt History of Art during the 2nd semester and I kinda liked it. I mean, we get to see different styles in oil painting and actually try to paint according to the style chosen is pure fun! To think we can go crazy with the brush on such huge canvas, ahh, the joy. >__<

Ah lols. I don't think thats actually quite a problem though. ^_^'

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

Hopefully you don't blow up too many things... XD

Hahaha... to tell you the truth, I have no plans on blowing things this year, ehehehe! Hmm... might as well blow your page with fireworks, if that's okay with you.

PS: Still am waiting on your reply to my other message, hehehe! XD

Quote by kuroimisaHi enchantment! Thanks so much for the kind comment :D

I did have a look at the new version and it looks great :D I see you changed the vector and you also repainted the flowers :P

It's also great to hear that the wallpaper evolved :D It's a process and we all like to know and see it ^_^

Anyway, to tell the truth I'm a terrible painter >_< (getting a tablet soon though... might help a bit... lol >_<) From the looks of your technique though, it's really good.

If you really want to know what I'd do, I'd probably do some more to the flowers - like shadows. Maybe the stock you picked had different lighting, but anyway, when a flower overlaps another it should cast a shadow. What I'd also do is change the colour of the outlines - the part closer of the flower outline should be brighter than the back to add depth (and thicker at the front, thinner at the back for perspective).
Same with the flower itself, the front part should be brighter than the back - that was a handy hint Candy made me realise, because painting seems to be quite straightforward, but it's actually very hard to achieve depth. So using colours to create depth is something we'll all have to take advantage of :P

I hope that was of some help ^_^' It's a really lovely wallpaper and you've put a lot of work into it <3 While I'm here, Merry Christmas in 2 days' time :D

your welcome and i should be thanking you XD

thanks a bunch for the kind words :D

lol XD no your not, your painting is heaps good, way better than mine thats for sure XD

yay for tablets XD [im too lazy to get one (dont even know where to get one XD meh XD ), so i'll stick with the customary mouse XD ]

thanks :D

shadowing, so thats what i was missing XD i didnt even notice XD oops XD

i'll do the shadowing tomorrow and if its ok, could you take another look? XD

its like 11:44pm at the moment and im just a tad tired ^_^' [thats what happens if you have 3-4 hours sleep the night before XD lol XD couldnt sleep XD must be the pull of christmas XD lol XD ]

yay for candy and her helpful hints XD both of yous are such good wallers :)

thats so true, i thought id almost fall over cause of the painting XD evil >_<

thanks a bunch and it was really helpful :D -huggles- XD

thanks and merry christmas to you as well :D

Quote by kuroimisaNot a bad try for a first wallpaper :) Extraction is nice and it looks very well thought out :D

Some things to think about in the future:

- Butterflies: If you rotate them a bit so they each look a little "different" and make them different sizes, it'll look a bit more natural. You can do this with Photoshop's EDIT> TRANSFORM> SCALE / ROTATE option :)

- Snow - same with the snow - the brush sizes can be changed a bit more, and some can be rotated (mostly the asterisk looking one and the one with 4 corners like a plus sign). With snow you can also differ the opacity (you can change it on the entire layer or for the brush - there are options at the top).
Also, don't be afraid to use the eraser and rub out bits of the snow so it doesn't look like the same brush. It's okay to have irregular looking snow :P But if you do that, make sure to have your eraser set at 30% flow or less so it doesn't rub out too harshly.

- Clouds - when you can (and I think soon :P), trace over the clouds so it'll fit with the scan feel - kind of blocky and solid. If not, paint or smudge them so they are less realistic - same goes for the moon and butterflies :)

Lastly, signature is always good at the bottom, and scan/vector credit in description also helps for good habits ;)

Keep it up! :D
