Ok, the thing with Neko boy wall is that the vector is actually somewhat simple, For me, I would recomennd the wallpaper have a simple background.
If you are trying for the ouran one, I would seriously suggest you think out of the box, don't try to use flowers and all that jazz, try considering some stock photos or even a background from a classroom.

But seeing as to your vectoring skills, I would seriously recommend if you are in the competition, consider walling something more conventional first.
I find for the friendship theme, the best walling idea should come from anime like Honey and Clover. Check out a few shots from that anime and you will get the idea.
