yeah i'm a gaara fan girl. I will admit it. I love all kinds of animes and manga. but my favorites are Naruto and Dnangel. I have heard of Cardcaptors skaura. It seems interesting but I havent had a chance to see it yet.

how ironic, I didn't even try to do anything different, and apparently you think it's different from my style (and for the pattern one I actually tried, 'cause I don't usually use so many patterns, maybe it's my vectoring style or something...)

I actually did consider giving it a background colour, but I painted straight onto the canvas (bad idea) instead of a layer, so I couldn't change the bg colour unless I go around all those dots and stuff, which would drive me crazy, so I left it as is *shhh*

The shading on the skin looks a bit pale and lacks of depth, especially below the lips and nose. And for the hair, you might want to add more whisps around her forehead (and also on the eyebrows). But what I like the most is the lipstick. The shading and highlighting are nicely done.

yup, I wanted the lipstick to stand out, so I used an obnoxious shade of red.

merge layers? but I used all different opacities (a different one for a different layer or shading). For the hair, I used white, then set to soft light, and lower opacity. Dunno if it works or not, but meh I hate the hair. I wanted to just crop it out or something, but then she looks bald DX

Yeah... 'cause painting-vector-ness is much easier and faster. I guess I'm not against doing it, if it's like in a wallpaper or something. Just don't call it a 'vector' 'cause it's not, it's been rasterized if you use brushes. Or if they had to do soft shading, use gradient meshes. I dunno, one of my idiosyncrasies >__>

The background, which is the sky, looks a little empty and has that missing-something-sort-of feeling. The lighting looks more like overlayed or blended layers that give a bit like non-realistic lighting. Well, painting is more towards the realistic thing, if you're into scenery, so you might want to add more shadows, and highlights, which will create a stunning lighting effect.

it's not just you, I did try to paint some wings (hence the name), but they turned out really ugly and non-wing-like, so I turned the opacity waaaaay down low so you can't notice it too much ' ...

I dunno if this counts enough as a painted wall though, I mean, I used pretty much the scan and pre-made brushes. The only things I really painted are the background colours and those barely visible wings

I must actually concentrate on writing my diploma so I don't really spend so much time on wallpapers at the moment. Arete II was a great motivation for me to finally finish a wallpaper ... after so many things that I only started. And it is very interesting to get honest comments on your wallpapers. I think many people on MT don't really write critiques anymore. But without them... how can I improve? How to know how people truely feel about my works? So I consider such competitions to be a great chance to improve. And another reason is the fun behind such activities, of course

I think the idea of using cbox is great, bcoz it seems that the guestbook is overloaded with members' submissions. And one thing that I thought, how will self-nomination work with Vectory? Maybe each member wants to self-nominate their works. Probably for this trial, no self-nomination. What do you think?
