Friend Dream! ^__^
Thank you for your kind entry into my guestbook and for the link! I made use of the Download feature and watched that extraordinary Amano video with great zeal! An absolutely marvellous collaboration of frame-to-frame animation, one excellent painting after another. Thank you very much! ^___^

I've not heard from you in a little while either, my friend! Write in and let me know how you've been!
I've just updated my user page with new MTM reader headlines and a countdown timer. Also, new film and book titles have been added to the Top Fives lists!
No new art releases yet, but soon enough to come once I get all my studies out of the way!

Take care, until next time! ^___^ :D :D :D

Quote by DREAMi agree with lady alterlier basically. lovely work on the lady. my only complaint here is the "glow" or halo around the lady's hair and how it not quite contrasts per se but stands out against the clouds. to me -it would be perfect without the glow.
very good work here and love the title, annakee. :)

hey, thanks u for the advices. i did the change of the halo and the update on the gallery.
this is the same that i uploaded.

Quote by DREAMah Lady Arya3087 i love your vectoring- you managed to retain the Amano-sama "essence" of the image.

i absolutely love the layout and the text my only crit is the border.
THE BORDERLESS VERSION LOOKS MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER.

note: updating to the borderless warrants a fav from me.

:tosses a red rose:

thank you very much for the comment! :)
well, I guess everyone likes the borderless version more (at least those who commented my wall do) XD so I'll upload that one...
thanks again! :)
have a nice day!

there is one small thing that bothers me: i know the importance of using shapes and patterns in the composition but her arm bothers me. in the beginning it is held together fairly well (which i like) and then gradually becomes uneven shapes without structure and then the wrist is completely unconnected. there is a good chance that this was your goal but i think holding the integrity of the arm together would have been ideal.

now that you said it....I cant take my eyes out of it, pretty much sadly concur with you sir dream, but I'm glad you like it.

Quote by DREAMah lady k1ru, you have made an Amano-san wallpaper in the art-noveau fashion. :) i love the overall composition especially the circular design. the original artwork comes from a book called "Kingyohime" (Princess Goldfish) and fashions the pretty princess with quasi-"cute" fish.

this leads to my very minor crits: i think the fish would have been better served with a different color. i.e a light purple or a shade of blue etc., and you colored the dress part on her arms yellow- this is a mistake since the dress covers her whole body. so in essence the color must remain fixed.

overall beautiful work. :)
:tosses a purple rose:

muhee~ dream-sama! xDDD
Whoa, the book title is cute lol xD

yeah i colored the dress part on her arms as yellow because i want to make something looks different from the scan, so yeah :3 but thankies for the crits! me love crits <3
ah, and thanks for the comments and fav on my wall ;DDD *glomps* xDD

Salut Lord DREAM,

before I go to bed I'll finally answer your last entry in my guestbook. I have been absent again of Minitokyo. At the moment I spend so much time at the computer writing or reading books, so since it's summer now, my freetime I mostly spend at the lake. That's what I really like about this rather boring city... the wonderful lake. :)

So please forgive me for being so late. I also had problems with my neck and head, resulting from all this PC work... so I had to stay away as much as possible to free myself of that pain. :(

By the way you wrote a PM to me about Arete ii. I cannot be a judge, since I'm one of the participants. And yes, I finally managed to finish my entry. Yeah... time to celebrate. ;)
In fact I just came home from a nice small party. We didn't celebrate my arete entry though... *lol*

Quote by DREAMYes; the professors in America would feel the same way as your professors there do. Even though manga and comics are popular and readily available in stores, comics have always suffered this unspoken stigma in America. It's really a travesty as there are some stories that could be considered "high art". Series such as Sandman, Akira etc. Try not to think so much about what your professors reaction will be but to back up your thesis with strong documentation and argument. A fair professor would realize you picked a difficult topic and should reward a strong effort as such.

Thanks for your kind and calming words. ;) Unfortunately such things stress me so reading your lines feels good. Now you're not only giving me helpful advice on my wallpapers but also on my university problems! Thank you... they are always most helpful. And I still remember when I came to Minitokyo and I felt so happy when I read yours and DernierCris comments. I think you helped me a lot to improve! Do I sound all sentimental now? Too bad actually that you are living in the USA. Must be most interesting to have a conversation with you! ;)

Hmm... at the moment I feel like going to France! But I also know myself and if I find an interesting job I guess I will rather do that instead of going abroad. I'll see. I love the French language and I forgot most of it. Well somehow I am attracted to France...so maybe maybe...
USA also sounds cool to me, but then that would be really far away. I guess I am not brave enough for such things. :(

How are you doing? I hope you're starting to feel better again? And was your job search successful?

Quote by DREAMtry not to worry to much about your future- it will all work out in the end. You are young, pretty, smart, and creative. :)

Hmm... thanks. You are too kind! ;)

Tomorrow I must work in the clothing store again. I am not really looking forward to it, but yeah some money comes.... and yes I am definitely always in need of money... *lol*

Again, I am very sorry to reply so late! I hope you're doing well and I'd be happy to hear from you again soon.

A bientot!

but the thing is, the family filter has deemed the personal options to be "Adult" and has blocked it.. so, i can't upload any avatar..

thank you very much for the link.. it's awesome. Sorry for taking so long to reply.

Quote by DREAMfuck yeah- this is the kind of wall i love.
love the ambiance.
very minor crit: i would have liked to see the car a little "sharper" and darker shade of red.

dont worry for that. is the kind of wallie that i like most too, so i hope make something like that soon. and with a better car, of course ^^

Quote by DREAMi think the "pepsi" cap is a tad much but a worthy highlight indeed.

the meaning for the cap... could be coke or sprite, yeh. that was random. but the fact of be corroded for oxide was for cover it ^^' not so well done as i can see XD
well, the cap was for cover the insect too. that mean that your demons and fears can be in anyplace. where you less can expect them.

thanks for the feedback, Maese Dream!

i must procure this art-book for my own collection.

Morphee could you be so kind to provide me a link to the book?

Quote by DREAMabsolute definitive favourite.

Quote by DREAMi love this artists work. your scanning is quite good.

i wrote a guide that may be of interest: Dream's Guide to Scanning in Photoshop.

absolutely beautiful. this Chinese artist, DEO R. reminds me slightly of Benjamin.

thank you for much the all the comments on my Deo.R scans!
the art is tricky but i'm sure you can make a fabulous wallpaper out of it :) keep me in touch anyhow if you do, i'm sure it'll be awsome.

here's the link to the book i scanned (yea it's in french): http://www.amazon.fr/Vampire-Deo-R/dp/2940380457
unfortunatmy though i don't have any more Deo.R material to scan :\ well there were 2 double pages but i was afraid the scan would be choped in the middle so i passed on those 2 (plus i had to give the book back). and this manga/art book is the only one published in France... but i'll keep in touch with any new editing :)

have a nice day :)

and thank you for the link to the scanning tutorial, i'll be sure to use it next time i scan something ;)

(cool userpage by the way)

Quote by DREAMof course i remember you mentis- i just got back to Mt after a few weeks absence. yes, it is true that a lot of the old Mt-er's aren't here anymore but although i don't submit walls too much i still pop in to see what my friends are doing.

perhaps MT is ready for an overhaul. luckily i am able to block all these damn "google" ads that defecate this place nowadays in Firefox.

I hear ya. I too have been fortunate enough to not see any of the ads. I have also proposed a few changes to MT, bringing the forth to the mods, and they seem receptive. I don't know if or when they may be put in place though.

As you can see my reply is also a bit late. We had been away on a trip to an anime convention. It was a lot of fun, and if you're curious you can check out the report I wrote up on it right here.

I haven't had a chance to look at those links in detail yet, but I appreciate all the information. Thank you ^_^. I'll try to get to them soon :P.

Quote: it's beautiful mentis-san. this is my favourite original work of yours. :)

Thank you so much for the nice comment. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this piece so much. I must admit that I was very pleased with this one, so it's a shame that it sold quite so fast :P.

Quote: congratulations on the sale- that ,must be a bitter-sweet feeling. i look forward to seeing your new piece. it's really great to see an MT member creating art and a life from that. very admirable indeed. ^^

Yes indeed, I got a little attached to it. So then, after it sold, I was asked to paint another piece. I had to do it on pretty short notice, so that was a challenge. But I did get it up on MT already, which you can see here.

So thank you again Dream-san ^_^, and take care...

Quote by DREAMi joined an "art noveau" group you may enjoy: http://art-nouveau.minitokyo.net/
so what are you up to? i suppose summer vacation is starting soon.

It's still a long way to go for my summer break - the exam session is about to begin and I'm soooooo busy...

I need to look at the group closer, but right now I'm head over heels in love with the art deco period and Tamara de Lempicka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lempicka). I have recently re-discovered her after one of the discussion sessions at university where we discussed feminism in music videos. We included Madonna, of course, and her Vogue music video, where, at the very beginning, there are a few canvas with Lempicka's paintings. I remembered from one of the interviews with Madonna that she bought a few of Lempicka's paintings and I took an interest in the painter.
Currently, I'm reading one of a few books I found about her, and I'm appreciating the art.
Btw, we also mentioned Madonna's Express Yourself and that led to Fritz Lang's Metropolis and anime with the same title... Believe me, it was a very interesting discussion that tended to stray in different directions :).

Quote by DREAMdoes your art-book contain any other Noriko Meguro artwork? as far as i know she only has some pieces in "Digital Comickers".
[...]
: crossing fingas that more Meguro art exists in the book :

Sorry, I've looked in both artbooks I have, but no more Noriko Meguro artwork. There's a lot of other great artists, though, so if you'd like to, I could send you the book over to the States. I guess I still feel indebted to you for the Yoshitaka Amano artbook...
Take care,
Joanna.

yup- when i first started scanning centuries ago. lady misa.. i used the Epson software then would shift the scans to PS. the problem is: when scanning a book the raw size of the files can approach nearly 100mb's per file which is monstrous. so i had to scan a few then shut down, import to PS rinse and repeat.

the beauty of directly importing into PS is that the scanned images are directly in PS ready for your cropping, resizing etc. as illustrated in Step 2, directly behind the preview glass are the other scans from the art-book.

not sure what version of PS you use - perhaps 7? but "the experts" say that to decrease the size of an image - use Bicubic Sharpener and to god forbid. [gasp] up-sample use Bicubic Smoother. i don't think PS7 has those as choices so stick with Bicubic.

btw- your scans are great, so no worries. but it may save you time. it wasn't until i started walling and DernierCri gave me a serious beat-down [never use the Gaussian filter on scans nor the wand to extract- cry] that i realized the hazards of resizing scans more than once and using filters. yes, early one i actually used filters in PSP. :shame: scans that you yourself have walled in the past. so i go out of my way to make the rawest [just invented a new word] hq scans possible. a little digital penance if you will. it's a shame Mt doesn't have the 5mb limit. hell, if i was running the show i would make it 15mb. o_O and throw in a bonus of 2,000 credits or so to those brave scanners who submit tons of good scans; so they can download all the ecchi towards their heart's content. do we still have ecchi scans here? not sure.......... all about motivation. :)

:wants those Kunie contest scans: ..... maybe i can hire Tevi to make a wall in my name?
lol jk

Hmmm yeah, I know what you mean. The highest DPI for me to scan in is 600 so my scans are quite small in size (rarely above 10 o_o') which also means it's quite fast to scan them- but it'd be great so i don't have to open this application and then the next one to open the files- so your tutorial is handy <3

Yup, I still use the ole '7 XD I'll try out the Bicubic thing :3
Well, scans do need touching up every now and then ;D Like I mean, us wallers do it, so why not the scanners? As long as it's done correctly I don't think it's a problem- it's only a problem when it's pixellated and blurry, or some random filter like "smudge stick" is applied onto it XD

As for the ecchi scans, we still have them, but only the "tasteful" ones. Well, I guess that's a little misleading, but we generally nuke anything suggestive and just not family friendly- XD It kind of reduces the number of bad ecchi walls as well- I'm not complaining lol.

Lol- well the scans are up for grabs ;D
:leaves a bottle of fine red wine: ^_^
