very minor crit: i would have liked to see the car a little "sharper"

dont worry for that. is the kind of wallie that i like most too, so i hope make
something like that soon. and with a better car, of course ^^

the meaning for the cap... could be coke or sprite, yeh. that was random. but
the fact of be corroded for oxide was for cover it ^^' not so well done as i can
see
well, the cap was for cover the insect too. that mean that your demons and fears

absolutely beautiful. this Chinese artist, DEO R. reminds me slightly of
Benjamin.
thank you for much the all the comments on my Deo.R scans!
the art is tricky but i'm sure you can make a fabulous wallpaper out of it keep
me in touch anyhow if you do, i'm sure it'll be awsome.
here's the link to the book i scanned (yea it's in french): http://www.amazon.fr/Vampire-Deo-R/dp/2940380457
unfortunatmy though i don't have any more Deo.R material to scan well
there were 2 double pages but i was afraid the scan would be choped in the
middle so i passed on those 2 (plus i had to give the book back). and this
manga/art book is the only one published in France... but i'll keep in touch
with any new editing
have a nice day
and thank you for the link to the scanning tutorial, i'll be sure to use it next
time i scan something

but i am impressed by your lovely vectoring and the use of the color

decided for the one with border, im glad you liked my work, and appreciate your

mentis- i just got back to Mt after a few weeks absence. yes, it is true that a
lot of the old Mt-er's aren't here anymore but although i don't submit walls too
much i still pop in to see what my friends are doing.
perhaps MT is ready for an overhaul. luckily i am able to block all these damn
"google" ads that defecate this place nowadays in
Firefox.
I hear ya. I too have been fortunate enough to not
see any of the ads. I have also proposed a few changes to MT, bringing the forth
to the mods, and they seem receptive. I don't know if or when they may be put in
place though.
As you can see my reply is also a bit late. We had been away on a trip to an
anime convention. It was a lot of fun, and if you're curious you can check out
the report I wrote up on it right
here.
be sure to go back and view all the guest-book posts.
I
haven't had a chance to look at those links in detail yet, but I appreciate all
the information. Thank you ^_^. I'll try to get to them soon :P.

Thank you so much for the nice comment. I'm happy to
hear that you enjoyed this piece so much. I must admit that I was very pleased
with this one, so it's a shame that it sold quite so fast :P.
Quote: congratulations on the sale-
that ,must be a bitter-sweet feeling. i look forward to seeing your new piece.
it's really great to see an MT member creating art and a life from that. very
admirable indeed. ^^
Yes indeed, I got a little attached to
it. So then, after it sold, I was asked to paint another piece. I had to do it
on pretty short notice, so that was a challenge. But I did get it up on MT
already, which you can see here.
So thank you again Dream-san ^_^, and take care...
Quote by DREAMi joined an "art
noveau" group you may enjoy: http://art-nouveau.minitokyo.net/
so what are you up to? i suppose summer vacation is starting soon.
It's still a long way to go for my summer break - the exam
session is about to begin and I'm soooooo busy...
I need to look at the group closer, but right now I'm head over heels in love
with the art deco period and Tamara de Lempicka
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lempicka). I have recently re-discovered her after
one of the discussion sessions at university where we discussed feminism in
music videos. We included Madonna, of course, and her Vogue music video, where,
at the very beginning, there are a few canvas with Lempicka's paintings. I
remembered from one of the interviews with Madonna that she bought a few of
Lempicka's paintings and I took an interest in the painter.
Currently, I'm reading one of a few books I found about her, and I'm
appreciating the art.
Btw, we also mentioned Madonna's Express Yourself and that led to Fritz Lang's
Metropolis and anime with the same title... Believe me, it was a very
interesting discussion that tended to stray in different directions .
Quote by DREAMdoes your art-book contain
any other Noriko Meguro artwork? as far as i know she only has some pieces in
"Digital Comickers".
[...]
: crossing fingas that more Meguro art exists in the book
:
Sorry, I've looked in both artbooks I have, but no more
Noriko Meguro artwork. There's a lot of other great artists, though, so if you'd
like to, I could send you the book over to the States. I guess I still feel
indebted to you for the Yoshitaka Amano artbook...
Take care,
Joanna.
yup- when i first started scanning centuries ago. lady misa.. i used the Epson
software then would shift the scans to PS. the problem is: when scanning a book
the raw size of the files can approach nearly 100mb's per file which is
monstrous. so i had to scan a few then shut down, import to PS rinse and
repeat.
the beauty of directly importing into PS is that the scanned images are directly
in PS ready for your cropping, resizing etc. as illustrated in Step 2, directly
behind the preview glass are the other scans from the art-book.
not sure what version of PS you use - perhaps 7? but "the experts" say
that to decrease the size of an image - use Bicubic Sharpener and to god forbid.
[gasp] up-sample use Bicubic Smoother. i don't think PS7 has those as choices so
stick with Bicubic.
btw- your scans are great, so no worries. but it may save you time. it wasn't
until i started walling and DernierCri gave me a serious beat-down [never use
the Gaussian filter on scans nor the wand to extract- cry] that i realized the
hazards of resizing scans more than once and using filters. yes, early one i
actually used filters in PSP. :shame: scans that you yourself have walled in the
past. so i go out of my way to make the rawest [just invented a new word] hq
scans possible. a little digital penance if you will. it's a shame Mt doesn't
have the 5mb limit. hell, if i was running the show i would make it 15mb. o_O
and throw in a bonus of 2,000 credits or so to those brave scanners who submit
tons of good scans; so they can download all the ecchi towards their heart's
content. do we still have ecchi scans here? not sure.......... all about
motivation.
:wants those Kunie contest scans: ..... maybe i can hire Tevi to make a wall in
my name?
lol jk
Hmmm yeah, I know what you mean. The highest DPI for me to scan in is 600 so my
scans are quite small in size (rarely above 10 o_o') which also means it's quite
fast to scan them- but it'd be great so i don't have to open this application
and then the next one to open the files- so your tutorial is handy
<3
Yup, I still use the ole '7 I'll
try out the Bicubic thing :3
Well, scans do need touching up every now and then ;D Like I mean, us wallers do
it, so why not the scanners? As long as it's done correctly I don't think it's a
problem- it's only a problem when it's pixellated and blurry, or some random
filter like "smudge stick" is applied onto it
As for the ecchi scans, we still have them, but only the "tasteful"
ones. Well, I guess that's a little misleading, but we generally nuke anything
suggestive and just not family friendly- It kind
of reduces the number of bad ecchi walls as well- I'm not complaining lol.
Lol- well the scans are up for grabs ;D
:leaves a bottle of fine red wine: ^_^
Quote by DREAMTama-Neko you didn't get that
in the U.S., right? I remember seeing that on yes-asia.
any extras?
i must procure that DVD......
It's a Japan (R2) release - I bought it from CDJapan.
No extras, just the 7 minute clip and a little bit of information. The card
inset (which I scanned) is the same art as the cover, and on the backside it
contains the lyrics to the song (which are the same as it is written in the
manga.)
Quote by DREAM"im sorry but we are
going to have to amputate and i have no anesthesia " the kind doctor says
grinning as his reaches for the saw........
Quote by DREAM[EDITED] ok: it seems you are
scanning at 72ppi [pixels per inch]. i suggest
scanning at 300 ppi minimum. this will allow for more info [pixels] to be
displayed. i usually scan at 1200ppi [but this is overkill] and 600ppi at
the[minimum].
ah i see- you use Paint Shop Pro. i started out on PSP myself- excellent program
for the price. here is an example of a Hiroki
Mafuyu scan i did. the
interesting thing is if the SET COMPRESSION VALUE is above 25% the image pixels
contract together. in essence it will be the equivalent of using a filter which
joins the pixels tightly together. another useful tool i have found is scanning
directly into PSP itself. this is under FILE IMPORT TWAIN ETC.
please don't think i am being over-critical you are doing great work.
Thank you for your suggestions. I don't think you're being over critical
=]
Anyways, I'm not using Paint Shop Pro. Image is scanned with my scanner software
at 600dpi and then optimized in Photoshop 7 using the Save for Web function to
reduce file size. Therefore, DPI is changed from 600 to 72. My artbook dimension
is only 10x10", scanning at only 72dpi would mean that the image height is
only 720px, not 3000px like you see here.
Quote by DREAMwow, i would go so far as to
Toshiaki Kato work approaches "high art" at times.
i must procure this artbook- could you provide a link/ISBN# for the

Expensive little sucker; in my opinion, not worth the full purchase price. See
if you can catch it on sale or use any coupons or something. If I ever see
another secondhand copy for sale I'll let you know.
Guten Morgen (this time in German... *lol*) Lord DREAM,
I just got out of bed and before I start reading and writing for university, I
want to answer to your last entry on my userpage...
Yes, of course I am still active... sometimes it just takes very long to submit
a new entry. University must be my priority right now so the only time that I
can dedicate to creating wallpapers is in the evening and very often during the
last weeks I have simply felt too tired. The part time job also doesn't really
help me to find more time... anyways I am even happier when I finally finish
something...
Hmm... I applied for the paint-o-rama group... finally... how often have you
been telling me by now? *lol*
I'm already working on something new, two things actually one original and one
isn't. And I can't help it, I feel a lot more pleasure when I'm working on my
own drawings. Anyways I would really like to wall this one scan... If only I had
more time!
Well I only made Amano wallpapers at the very beginning... the first few weeks
that I got Photoshop! I really knew nothing.... and I don't like my old
wallpapers too much anymore! I just keep them in the gallery to see whether or
not I am getting better. Yesterday I looked at my first vector... It looks
horrible! *lol* So I actually would like to make a new Amano wallpaper because I
do think I could do better ones than are in my gallery now. So again: If only I
had more time!
I haven't submitted anything new on Deviant Art...
I am still working on my diploma and that paper must be around 100 pages long...
I think I collected all the comics now, read a lot of books etc. So only some
days ago I actually started writing. The topic is rather difficult since these
comics are being overlooked, or maybe they are still too new... and well comics
in generally are not really accepted as much as they should be. But the
situation is improving. More and more are making it into the feuilletons of
famous newspapers. But yeah it's a bit risky considering the fact that there are
many conservative university professors and they rather appreciate works on
pieces of high literature. Well I wanted to do something different... so I am
taking the risk! ;-)
Yes, I am still working in the clothing store... and after graduation I'll go
where my job takes me. If it was just me, I'd like to go to a foreign country...
*lol* I feel bored around here and I'd like to go on an adventure... But my mom
is already complaining all the time about her children living too far away.
Anyways I'll see... now I'll finish my university...
Hmm... I am truely sorry about your sister. I can't imagine what happened and I
don't want to ask questions cause it must be very painful. I only have one
sister... I don't even wanna imagine how I'd feel if she was gone. Hmm
truely speechless... Well I guess you hear that a lot but I really do hope that
you'll feel better soon. We're all living on this planet pushing the thought of
death away from us as much as possible... and when such things happen it's hard
to accept, especially when young people die. My sister and me both lost a class
mate at school... so that wasn't even a family member and it was horrible when
the chair was left empty every day and that person wouldn't return anymore to
take the seat. But it
is important to continue with life... anyways I don't want to write a long
speech here. And I don't want to cause any more pain by writing all
this...
Have you found an interesting job by now?
I guess finding a job here can be a serious hassle in Germany as well... I'm a
bit scared of that... anyways it's important to be optimistic...
Well... time to dedicate myself to my diploma work...
Thanks for the lines in my guestbook and I hope to hear from you again soon!
Take care... and a bientot!
