Quote by Ultra-VioletVector art is always popular for its postmodern feel and clean lines. But would you believe it if I said this particular piece reminded me of a 1970s newspaper fashion ad? In the 70s colour printing for newspapers and comic books most certainly didn't hit the same millions of colours that we have today. They were limited to maybe 50 colours, if that! These simple, clean cut lines and dots give he primary art in its shade of marine blue a French feel against its white backdrop. Very nice! Its unique in its own standing! ^__^

Oh how I love that indeed, you know, now that you mention it, it does look like a 70's color fashion ad. The colors and such, I never thought about it until you mentioned it.
Anywho, thanks for the compliment on A Wolf In Sheep's Cloathing, and I know it's a late reply :O

Quote by Ultra-VioletWell then! Absolutely Top Class C. Kitty! ^___^
I've never previously had the privilege of commenting on wholly original artwork, but this here piece is certainly enough to stop my attention smack in the middle of its march. Well done!

I'm very partial to landscapes and I should like to draw attention to how clever the over all composition of this piece actually is. Incorporating a wonderful selection of pastels and quite clever with its proportions. One would think it was a landscape study directly from a photograph or print. If that isn't so and this piece comes entirely from the imagination then all power to you as well!

There is undoubtedly a melodious sense of harmony and peace. On extremely close inspection the absence of direct shadows makes pinpointing the position of the sun's decent across the horizon lack definition. But this is irrelevant to the voice of the work. The voice of which captures this picture-perfect Japanese moment in brilliant immortality.

I'm inspired! Well done! ^___^

Such a comment! I'm glad you like the pastel colors. I was debating a while on my colors and I was hoping the final look was ok. And no, I didn't use a photo for reference :3 Hm..I see what yo mean about the sun position. This is my first landscape CG so I'll have to remember that next time. I'm excited that you enjoyed the piece though! Thank you! :)

thanks for the in depth comment. it was appreciated. to read a reason of why one thinks something about something. cheers.

Quote by Ultra-VioletHello There Friend Kokuyu! ^___^
If you pardon the old British adage for a moment: "GAWBLIMEY!"
And you must be thinking to yourself about now: 'What the hell was that in aid of?'
And I would answer most truthfully that a few hours ago I received some grand favour for selected artworks from my gallery by Member: Toya999 whom I see you also favoured her artwork entitled 'Butterflies of the Night'. (And with good reason, beautiful piece isn't it?)
But more to the point: When I visited Toya's user page in order to leave an appreciative comment on her guest book, I couldn't help but notice your photograph in her Hot List! AND WHAT A PHOTO, I SAY!
I simply had to stop by and say that you Kokuya, by far have submitted yourself in one of the most interesting presentations of obscure makeup that I have recently had the pleasure to lay eyes on. And that alone warrants my coming around and giving you a virtual handshake. In other words: Damn you're cool! ^___^ hehehe ~____^
And while I feel we could all do with a little less of Mana's notorious appearances on the front cover of Japan's famous Gothic Lolita Bible, I couldn't possibly fault you for your admiration.

And conclusively for this introduction, I couldn't help but notice your mention on the passing of Mrs. Ng Loke Chee. I submit to you my friend, my whole-hearted sympathies on your tragic loss, pro-offering my deepest condolences, and if you allow me, my sincerest wishes that Buddha bless her beautiful immortal soul and that her re-return to Mother Earth see her happy having basked the love of her grandchildren.
Such a loss can only be understood by first hand experience for which I humbly submit I previously endured.
My Warmest Regards To You,
UV

hi! :)

my apologize for late reply, as i've been in crazy projects lately. Now that i can snea for a breather, can do my replies with peace of mind :D

no, i wasn't wondering that way, rather i was thinking "was that an old latin word? i can't find it even in ancient english ^_^' "

ermmm.........sorry, i couldn't remember which one i fav, because i've been concentrating hard on my artpieces, which are pretty exhaustive x_x
umnn.....yeah, i'm pretty curious why was my photo there ^_^' haven't ask her lately but we spend too much time chatting till i forget easily what on the earth i wanted to ask already. XD
hee..heeee....thanks very much too *gives a warm handshake* i'm still improving my make up lessons X-P in which i'll release another version soon :D
Mana-sama is my inspiration of my true identity, :) nevertheless, i believe everyone has their very own opinion, so i don't really mind because i myself did shook my head upon seeing him :nya:

Oh, thank you very much for your generous warm offer. It's been a month since that incident, and still regret many things >_< That's why I put up a memorial in my userpage to remind myself of her tremendous deeds. To be honest, no one in my family today is as kind as her, for her mind is as pure as the driven snow. She never have a single negative thought on anyone, and even greeted strangers with good wishes. It's only after she left the mortal world that we all realized all these.........
Indeed, we are confident she would be safe and fully blessed in netherworld. ^_________^

With sincere regards,
~kokuyu~

Quote by Ultra-VioletTsk! That's always the way isn't it? You produce something you're pleased with and not even so much as a cricket comes around to pay any attention to it. >__<"
Well, let me be the first at best to discuss this piece.
Your colouring, QIB is very clever. All the shading fits into the right places and illuminates its self well. Forgive me; I'm not particularly fond of the skin hue you selected for the young lady on the left. That's of no consequence however and completely insignificant to the over all work.
That of which feels well textured and certainly holds that grudge element only against a white backdrop. I'm always fascinated by the use of white in works.
Well done! ^__^

Thanks for such an extended comment. =)

Yeah, I agree with point 'bout skin colour, it's a bit off, I guess. But I wanted to make a contrast with fair skin of the boys. Actually the composition annoying me much more XD.
Yup, I'm fascinated by japanese fanartists's usage of white and black, so I try it sometime too. =)

Quote by Ultra-VioletTo the uninterested eye, this piece just doesn't have a lot to say about its self. This could relate to the reason as to why it was first removed from the galleries. A regretful decision on their part I should like to impress, for a 30 second inspection in all honesty reveals that this piece is really quite clever in its construction. It's an acquired taste as is the entire Dogs series. What caught my eye in particular was the selection of primary art. Its sparseness and metropoline feel is illuminated by the simple sepia tone that becomes the entire illustration. The worked background of timepieces and technical lines against a interlacing of cinder and tarnished gold work well. The elements however are not cohesive of the actual linework, but that is the overall work's draw. I should like to read more of your thoughts regarding its construction for further consideration.
Very nice! ^__^

I'm glad that you like this piece. =) And I'm always happy to know that there are more Dogs fans
Thoughts? What thoughts? The main point was to make wallpaper with urban feeling, that's all. =) I like to work with Miwa's manga - its got clean lines, lot's of motion and nice atmosphere of dark city.

Quote by Ultra-VioletIf I could deter away from the moral uproar this particular art work has produced and focus on its technical and inspirational value for a moment:
I simply must say it is a work postmodern in feel and ultra modern in production. Its Biblical aspect is what attracted my attention most of all. (...)

My thanks for your kind comment :)
"Moral uproar", eh? It was more like: "it will be deleted" - "no, it won't be deleted" than a moral uproar^^;;
Btw, at first I wanted to colourise the background, but it just wouldn't look right so I made these blue-ish gradients.

Why, I could have sworn you had a full gallery filled with exciting art works! I came to visit and have a look through and leave a few comments here and there but lo and behold.....the cupboard was bare! (I've got to get some points for rhyming there don't I?) Hehehe ^__^
Alright then, that's enough from me.
Until very soon friend, take care :D :D :D
UV

Like I said I never got to develop wallpaper skills because I never had an opportunity to wall at home with a decent program (everytime I got a decent one computer be dying......actually my computer's midway through dying right now :(). I did a fair bit of photo and graphic work at school with the fireworks programs, nothing spectacular and these days I can barely remember a thing about it. Well that's my excuse! I'm much happier writing reviews and do so whenever I have the time and motivation X-P

Nice little timery thing you have there, I wasn't positive what the posting time was myself.....but it's gotta be midnight somewhere right? Also that's an awesome, cute little banner, it was actually Eunasahng who made that blobby thing and I think it's going to take position of temporary MTM mascot.

A friends just appeared next to me so I must be off to entertain peoples, bai.

Hi I really liked your work called blade mother japanese complex, I was wondering if I could use it as a wallpaper is that okay? Thanks!

Hello, UV-chan! How are you?
I don't know what is wrong with me but I've only seen your reply to my comment on your NANA's wallpaper today! Believe it or not!
So, I just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful comment! It's really inspiring talking to you, you know?! Your concepts and reflections on the series make me eager to know them.
So, if you ever have time to read or watch NANA tell me what you think of it. I understand it's not much of your style, but maybe you'll like it. :)
Oh! By the way, I'm looking forward for your next pieces! Specially the one based on NANA and the one featuring Japanese Complex! I just loved your first Japanese complex wallpaper! It's simply awesome!
That's it for now!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Kisses!

Thank you so very much for you wonderful comments on my wallpapers. I didn't even realise one of them was in the elite galley till you told me!

I mean no disrespect to the people who have commented on my wallpapers before but you by far have made the most visible effort in your comments. It has really made my day to see you talk about the wallpapers themselves rather then simply say that you like what you see.

You mentioned in one of your comments that you would like to hear me talk more indepth about my wallpapers and i would simply love to talk directly about them with you if you want ^^ If you have any messenger programs then i'd love to talk directly to you about them and from the looks of your works i have a few things to learn from you too!

If you so wish please add me to whatever you have:

I'm looking forward to any future discussions and friendship that we may develop.

Quote by Ultra-VioletYou'd be surprised where random clicking takes you!
It was with that very same sense of curiosity and fast finger tactics that I found myself at your damned fine MT Group! :)
I've had the pleasure of encountering Vincent not only in the film Advent Children but also in the PS2 video game Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus both of these which are exceptionally fine additions to the extremely popular Final Fantasy branch of entertainment.

I'd like to thank Kaisui for readily making all these incredible scans freely available for download. They really are extraordinary and I look forward to seeing affiliated fans produce excellent works with them as well as perhaps designing a few myself.
Your fellow V. Valentine Fan,
UV

Thanks, I am so glad that you like my group! I have tried to submitt the scans in the Minitokyo System, but MT doesn't accept scans from KAZ, so I just linked them. ^_^
Also, I noticed that your username wasn't in the member list as an affiliate member. Are you going to join the group? I would really prefer that you do, so that any of your Final Fantasy based work could be featured in the ffvv gallery.

r q g

Hi! first of all thank you very much for the comments! :) I really appreciate it(especially when they say something more than "great" or "I like it")! XD

Quote by Ultra-VioletIt's your name that keeps popping up Arya. I couldn't help but notice that a lot of the members that favoured my work in the past and present also stopped by your gallery as well. I had to see for myself what the link was and this work here explains for it's self why it's in the elite gallery. I'm not in the least interested in the technicalities of this work nor what it could and couldn't use. What I'm interested in (and it was enough to stop my attention) is the fact that you've taken a photograph of an attractive young woman and used some extraordinary vectoring skills to honestly create a digital art work prolific in simplicity and feminine sensuality. I'm very appreciative of it! Well done! ^__^

lol! that's an interesting way to come across someone's gallery XD haha!
thank you for the fav and comment!
actually I found the photo by coincidence. I was searching for photos of Ziyi Zhang(she's a Chinese actress :) ) and found the site where I have taken this picture from. and I liked it so I thought to try a new thing, vectoring real persons. and this is the result. I was very happy when I saw it was an elite wall :) I'm thinking of trying more vectors of real people, but that will be when I'll have more time...
anyway, enough babbling. XD I'm really glad u liked it! :)

Quote by Ultra-VioletI never have reason to argue with people whom design works based on the composition of animals. This piece of yours was sufficient to have me reminisce about an air brushed painting I own of a black cat much like this one whom also sat near a vase of flowers and held that particularly feline glare that only a cat is naturally capable of. It's the warmth of the scene it's self which drew me. That simple red flower, those paper clouds and extremely well coloured sky. It's wonderful Arya! ^__^

actually I must say that the "cat sitting next to a vase" thing is not very original itself XD I saw it too in some other places :D but I wanted to make a cat wallie and this was the only idea that came to my mind.
I'm glad u like it! ^_^

see ya!

Actually, I'm not sure if you can get the book or not, or if the pictures were just printed in a copy of Young King Ours (the japanese magazine that does Hellsing/the Dawn chapter by chapter). It was called the "Hellsing Illustration Selection," and I found all of my scans in the Hellsing gallery here on MT, actually.

I'm sorry I don't know much else about it. I just LOVED the scans and had to use them. I hope that kind of helped as much as it could...

r q g

I have not read the Vampire Hunter D novels..I can't find them anywhere. I saw one once, and didn't know if it was worth the buy..I do now...I got into the Sandman Series when I found a shirt with dream on it..I said to myself this looks interesting I shall get it, then I started get some of the books. I have only read At worlds end, the doll house(My fav) and endless nights..He also has a Neverwhere comic as well. By the way how did you come across Marquis de Sade's Betrayal? I can't find that anywhere

And on your works I came across Biomechina .01 awhile back, and honestly didn't know what to say..stupid minitokyo would let me fav it for awhile..actually worked this time, and yeah your white Hunger did capture my attention. I stared at for 5 mins before I realized I needed to leave a comment.

r q g

Thank you so much for the awesome comment of "A Bit of an Enigma." Your critique does not go unappreciated, and I'm very glad you liked it. THANKS!

r q g

Wow..thank you for the all the comments and the watchlist. I feel I must match your bravado with words, but I lack that complexity. So all I can say is thank you..
P.S. I see you are a Sandman fan as well. I am slowly starting to get his collection together. Have you read any of his books, American Gods is one of my top 5 books.

r q g

Thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoy it! Kazuya Minekura is definitely one of my all time favourite artist, not just for the art but also for the storytelling. I really love the depth and complexity of each character that she creates and the reality check that the world isn't always a pretty place. I did this wall over a year ago but it still remains one of my favs too because of how much I can see Minekura-ness in it - lolz!

Thanks again, sorry for the late reply! ^^

Quote by Ultra-VioletI've been partal to Minekura's particular brand of illustration for a very long time. Its taken many years but at last TokyoPOP has finally gotten around to releasing Wild Adapter in English and thankfully the first volume was released to the public not very long ago. The resultant - an extremely aggressive series encircling some very adult concepts. Gorgeously cinematic - such a description is rightly suited to this particular artwork of yours here.
At the time that I add this comment there are only 21 Minekura pieces available in the Wild Adapter gallery. Roughly 19 of them are scans and of them 3 that are actually wall artworks, your piece 'Stray Cat' is the most inspiring of the lot. I can say with great confidence that none other than this piece encompasses the noir styling of this series with quiet as much vigour nor texture.
An excellent submission. Well done!

Quote by Ultra-VioletHello There Strike-Force,
I couldn't help but notice that you've lately paid a visit to my gallery and have favoured a great deal of my work. I wanted to express my appreciation of your support by leaving a comment in your guest book and inviting you back to my gallery whenever you like! :) I'll be releasing new artworks to the MT public periodically post-return. As a matter of fact, I'm about to unleash a new one right now. ;)
Also Strike, I couldn't help but notice your avatar. I feel I recognize this character. Could he be that fellow from the anime series 'Agentosama'? When you're next around, do let me know, I've had my eye on that series for some time but haven't as yet actually gotten around to watching it!
All in all, thank you once again,
UV

Hi there Ultra-Violet :D !

Yes yes, I browsed through your gallery and as a result faved some of your wonderful works, ahh, I just couldn't resist. Honestly, your gallery is so amazing and your works are simply stunning. So to let you know, all the favs are well deserved.
I'm going to add you to my watch-list so I can keep an eye on such excellent artist as you are :)
As for my avatar, it was a gift form my friend. When she gave it to me she said that the guy reminds her of me. Hi hi, I don't know if its good or not but I hope it is a positive connection. Besides that no other information was given to me. But I will bother her a little to get all the info, especially from which anime series it comes from. The avatar you saw is not the original I got , so if you want I can send you the bigger and more colorful original version.
By the way, I was just wondering what's your favorite anime series ? Or, which series are you going to see next ? I'm planing to see a new series and I just don't know which to choose.
So ja, I will surely visit your gallery and I hope to see more of your works. But until then, take care and take it easy
See ya :)

Quote by Ultra-VioletHi There Strike! :)
How goes you friend?
Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my guest book as well! I really appreciated the commentary and your support! ^__^
You asked some interesting questions while there, now, let me see....favourite anime series, eh? Hmm, tough call that one. There's plenty out there and while a great deal of them can be fairly mediocre, every now and then you can come up against an absolute classic or two. Much like anything, it depends a great deal on what your interests are. I'm much for horror, sci-fi and action therefore my present collection consists of titles such as Trigun, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Get Backers, Cowboy BeBop, Saiyuki, Night Walker and Hellsing. Recently however, there are quite a few modern (adult) titles being released which I would also highly recommend such as Trinity Blood, Speed Grapher, Hellsing Ultimate, Ergo Proxy, Gun X Sword and Samurai Champloo.
As you can see from this list already, it's difficult to pick a favourite. I tend to watch each title from an objective point of view and absorb it one piece at a time. However, an all-time modern classic well worthy of your watching, I would say to be Samurai Champloo. If you've not seen or already own this series yet, I recommend renting it by any means needed. Its a brilliant piece of work and the experience will leave you on the edge of your seat. Enjoy it! :) Meanwhile, the next series I intend to view is certainly the new noir philosophical release, 'Ergo Proxy'. I hear it's quite the mind-screw. Hehe ;)
Now, with regards to your avatar, if you do happen to have a large and colour copy of this work, I'd love the chance to see it! Please do feel free to email me a copy. My email address is located on my user page. There's something distinctive about the character. If I were allowed the chance to view a larger live image I'm quite certain I'd be able to pinpoint who he is exactly.

Well my friend, I'm off again to graphic programs, I've got all these wonderful ideas and the need to release them as digital art grows all the stronger!
Peace & Love,
UV

Hi there Sunshine !

I'm really glad to hear form you. Sorry for the slow replay but my college classes are almost over, so right now preparing for tests, presentations and writing papers are my top priorities, eating up my whole time. But anyways, you gave ma a pretty good list of anime series. From the entire list, Speed Grapher, Night Walker and Saiyuki are the ones I haven't seen. Ergo Proxy is trully amazing, in my opinion of course, and I'm currently waiting for shinsen-subs to sub the last three episodes. So ja, I will choose my next series form your list. Thanks a lot for your help.
Don't worry, I still remember to send you my avatar. Hopefully you will figure out who this guy it.

Okie dokie, take care, take it easy and remember to smile :D
Talk to you soon

Quote by Ultra-VioletTo Dream,
I don't believe I've had the pleasure of encountering anyone else in this anime art community whom has shown such dedication nor longevity in collective nature. Undoubtedly you own the largest and most unrivalled collection of Amano scans this community could possibly offer. A visit to your personal website (of which was a vast pleasure, I assure you) neatly discusses your adoration of collecting art books. A distinguished hobby that I can personally second in enjoyment. Taking a liking to Neil Gaimen's The Sandman is also within my reach as much as I see it being part of yours. I can't remember if I've commented on your guestbook before. If I have then it would have been about two years ago. All in all, your User Page artwork still displays a great vector illustration of Death!

I remember it was some time ago now. I released a particular work within the Hellsing gallery and you were kind enough to come along and comment on it. It's been too long since last I looked over the patronage of others, but I remember your words being most flattering at the time.

All in all, I wanted to come around now that I've returned after so long, and say a few things:
1) To thank you for indeed having the largest collection of Amano and affiliated beautiful scans within your gallery. It's been my one-stop-shop for resources for a while now.
2) To thank you for having similar interests to my own. It's always nice to find out someone else likes something you do.
3) To thank you for taking the time to look over my gallery. Those works are very old now. And extremely experimental considering the level of my productions today. A great deal of them cannot be published here in MT. (General clash of interests)

Regardless, next time you're around, drop me a line and let me know you're there. I've recently gotten a copy of Amano's 'The Tale of Genji' which is certainly worth sharing images, unless you've already got a copy in your possession.
All The Warmest,
Your fellow Amano Appreciative,
UV

hello Ultra-Violet!
i am still here but am glad you are back- i thought you had left for sure.

Quote by Ultra-VioletI'm extremely pleased to comment that I have only been acquainted with the brilliance of Gaiman's 'The Sandman' graphic novel series within the past 24 hours after years of hearing this particular collection of comics to be one of the greatest productions in modern history within the essence of anthropomorphic personifications. Thus, I am now well educated and feeling all the richer for it. Likewise, I'm glad I waited until now to experience The Sandman's stories. I doubt I could have appreciated them to the extent I do now if I had encountered them a few years ago without first witnessing the work of Frank Miller, Matsuri Akino, Sauno Yoshida and even Kazuya Minekura.

i take it you are reading Sandman right now? Sandman is easily the best/strongest graphic novel/manga that i have read. it is art. :) i wish i could suffer from "selective amnesia" sometimes so i could re-read that novel for the first time again. i shall not give away any spoilers as i consider that a crime against nature. but upon completion be sure to read "The Dream Hunter" and the 2 stand alone Death novels. Neil Gaiman's novel "Neverwhere" is excellent as well.

i notice you have read Frank Miller? well Miller is my favourite American comic book artist my 2nd is David Mack the creator of "Kabuki". i actually had the honor of meeting and talking to Mack-san at a comic book convention last summer; i purchased 4 prints of his as well. now back to Frank Miller. he is a god- my favourite comic book characters are: Dream [Sandman], Batman, Daredevil, Elektra, Shi and Kabuki. now he has written 3 out of 6 of those. my favourite book of his is "Ronin"- have you read that? it is a work of genius and completely un-filmable. talking of flicks i am glad to see that "Sin City" was done so well and "300" was good too. other favourite writers include Otomo-san [Akira] and of course Alan Moore.

have you seen the anime series "Monster"? it is a MUST VIEW series. i plan on reading the manga as well. since Madhouse is my favourite studio I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of "Highlander: Vengeance".

congratulations on your purchase of "Tales of Genji" it is a beautiful art-book. last summer i purchased that book but i sent it to an on-line friend of mine from Mt. She sent me a Vampire Hunter D book, so i felt compelled to send a gift back and i can readily procure the book in the US w/o difficulty. ^^ some of my art-books have been imported from Japan [not to mention out of print] and that can get expensive. :(

i really like to discover art and i get excited when members perhaps "agents" enjoy and artist enough to d/l the art-work, perhaps wall it, and or comment. without a doubt your comments are very insightful and show an understanding only an artist can provide. so reading great comments like your makes it worth the effort.

you don't need to thank me for the comments/favorites etc. i enjoy your work and amazed by your technical abilities. :) so perhaps Ultra-Violet will make an Amano wall?
haha; no pressure. ;)

i just took the opportunity to read your page and it states that your a "7 yr. old, Male, dwelling in japan" i thought you were a 20 yr. old, female form the UK. lol no matter; but i noticed you took your web-site link down. are you still doing graphic design work?

oh yes here's a few gifts for a fellow Amano-san fanatic.
