Wow... that made me laugh!
Hey Misa! How're things going with you? How'd that project go? I'm doing well...
been extremely lazy now that I'm done with school for awhile. It hasn't quite
sunk in yet that I won't be going back to school in the fall yet... lol! But, I
actually went and got a job today, so at least I'll keep myself busy during the
off-time. Well, take cares and hope that classes aren't stressing you out too
much!
Hiya Misa-chan ^_^. I feel like I'm always apologizing for not replying fast
enough. So I guess maybe I'll just tell you that we were away to an anime
convention, which is why I wasn't on MT last week. You can read all about the
con in my report right
here, with pics. There was some awesome cosplay going on, and it was great
fun all around .
Quote by kuroimisaHmmm yeah. I was
thinking of perhaps a "have you read the latest Policy?" thing after
being inactive every now and then- it might make people want to log in just to
avoid doing so A suspension isn't a bad idea...
I think that
this is a good idea, and if anything of this does end up being implemented I'd
love to know about it ^_^.
Quote: Well the content itself (the
html, css and all) doesn't take that much space on the server- just when it
loads, it takes its toll on the bandwidth ;D
The thing that takes up a lot of space are the images (gallery)- and it only
affects the browsing and speed when there are downloads (and there are lots of
people downloading at the same time, I'm sure).
So there
maybe inactive accounts could still have images, bigger stuff (i.e. videos),
disabled to conserve bandwidth. But that might be more complicated to
do...
Quote: Thanks for the flower
It's a strange feeling to be "helpful"
Hope this week is fun for you ^^
Indeed it was quite fun.
While at the con, we also got to spend time with some friends we hadn't seen in
about a year. It was a great little vacation really .

Seems like this new piece hasn't been viewed all that much, but then I didn't
have much time to promote it either :P. So I'll probably do that as I catch up
with my notifications (yet again ).
Hmm... I guess Kuri's busy again with school and with the new contest, ne?
Nee... nee... guess what, I already finished my practicum! *gives some pearl

I'll go get my grade! and also, I

Hehehe... that's all, thank you! *bows*

Quote by kuroimisaGreat!
I usually scan with the Scanner Wizard
And then I open the image in Photoshop- I never knew about the whole bicubic
thing, so I guess I'll do that for sure next time- nifty
yup- when i first started scanning centuries ago. lady misa.. i used the Epson
software then would shift the scans to PS. the problem is: when scanning a book
the raw size of the files can approach nearly 100mb's per file which is
monstrous. so i had to scan a few then shut down, import to PS rinse and
repeat.
the beauty of directly importing into PS is that the scanned images are directly
in PS ready for your cropping, resizing etc. as illustrated in Step 2, directly
behind the preview glass are the other scans from the art-book.
not sure what version of PS you use - perhaps 7? but "the experts" say
that to decrease the size of an image - use Bicubic Sharpener and to god forbid.
[gasp] up-sample use Bicubic Smoother. i don't think PS7 has those as choices so
stick with Bicubic.
btw- your scans are great, so no worries. but it may save you time. it wasn't
until i started walling and DernierCri gave me a serious beat-down [never use
the Gaussian filter on scans nor the wand to extract- cry] that i realized the
hazards of resizing scans more than once and using filters. yes, early one i
actually used filters in PSP. :shame: scans that you yourself have walled in the
past. so i go out of my way to make the rawest [just invented a new word] hq
scans possible. a little digital penance if you will. it's a shame Mt doesn't
have the 5mb limit. hell, if i was running the show i would make it 15mb. o_O
and throw in a bonus of 2,000 credits or so to those brave scanners who submit
tons of good scans; so they can download all the ecchi towards their heart's
content. do we still have ecchi scans here? not sure.......... all about
motivation.
:wants those Kunie contest scans: ..... maybe i can hire Tevi to make a wall in
my name?
lol jk
Misa....I'm illuminated...I've just have an idea ^^
I'll give the contest a shot.

Oh yeah, if I got to learn more and more, I'll vector YOU! Yeah, that's right...
I'll vector YOU! *giggles*
Hello kuroimisa!
Mmm..... I doing well these days, and think I'm going by the rules
I hope you're doing well too
I was just going to submitt a wallpaper but I had a question
Quote: You may not use unmodified
stock images for background purposes. For the purposes of this policy, an image
is "unmodified" if it has not undergone any editing or if it has
undergone only basic editing, such as resizing, retouching, or cropping.
umm.... about this rule, I'm not so sure what stock images are
I understand that we need to modify the images but I'm not sure if I understand
what stock images are.
Sorry and hope you can give me an answer

Have a nice day
Thanks for your kind comments and the fave on the Macross wall ^_^ And also for

I guess with the AreteII, I was just thinking of this scan: RESET10 by
kuroimisa
I might even just run away and just... do it now *_*
There are just so many interpretations of it, and it's something wallable. It
seems that many people have started to just enjoy the scans, but I figured it
might do some good to hammer the metal while it's hot ;D
But indeed, you're right in saying a lot of them aren't wallable- I find most of
them are complete like the Ohgushi scans of yours <3
Anyway, I hope everything has been going well for you
*throws confetti into the air*
hello lady misa- yes that sure is a good scan. the only potential downside is
that her head is cut off a little. that is really my only crit- of her?
artwork.
i especially like this scan: RESET01 by kuroimisa
and the one on the web-site banner you set up.
but i can offer my services as a judge if i can't get a wall together. we both
know how bad i am at extending scans. lol
sure is nice to receive art-book[s] for your birthday isn't it?
hmm... I was just clicking on the link for arete II that I got in my
notifications, but it doesn't work. I read the whole thing on the Schattenrand
groupsite so it's okay... but I am confused now where to write that I want to
take part?... *lol* So I am spamming your guestbook... Sorry! Well last
time I've been a judge so this time I'd like to submit an entry... and the
deadline is quite nice too!
Great that you are taking over Schattenrand. The group was rather dead so I
don't think Omni will be upset with you for awaking it from the dead... or half
dead... Lovely arete II website also... I don't think your html/css is that
crappy! I'm totally admiring how you can set up a website in a few moments!
O_o
Well take care and I hope to hear from you again soon...
Oh, almost forgot, due to my excitement on arete II *lol*... thanks for the

Haha..i know i haven't been talking to you for a long time!

mucking around instead
Thanks again and I'm happy to see you online again
Hello Misa,
glad to hear that you seem to have had a happy birthday. I really think it is
okay to forget about work on this special day! Especially for people like you
who are always working hard and even forget to drink water!
*leaves some bottles of water for Misa*
About me being online... I always am visiting MT to check out notifications.
Remember, I am the perfect procrastinator! So when I am at my laptop wondering
what to write on my uni papers... I usually take a look at MT. However I didn't
have time or hmm.. actually energy left to spend my night after work at the
computer to create wallpapers or anything. My eyes were too tired. But now I
just missed it too much... I already started another thing. Well who knows
whether I will ever finish it!
I am in Germany at the moment... but on Monday I go back to Austria. I am happy
because it is so hot here... and I want to go swimming in Austria. Here we don't
have any nice lakes, only dirty ones... Nothing compares to the lake I know in
Austria so I don't like swimming here.
Hmm... ok I must stop procrastinating now and get back to my work!
Good luck to you! Take care and I hope to hear from you again soon!
i really wanted to remember your bday, and post it on the day you had it in the
yamamori clan, but i simply forgot it due to all those assignmennts i
have.....sorry
oooh, and lets also have a picture of the birthday child in my Mt: Members
picture thread?
no? of course yes, come along ^_^
*drags misa with him*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... I'm not sure... maybe I am one
day too late, it's a bit confusing with the time difference of Europe and
Australia... *lol*
Hopefuly you didn't have too much work on your birthday... if so... just make
sure to relax and party on another day... I "postponed" my birthday
relaxation enjoyment days so often by now...
Quote by kuroimisaOoh that sounded like
fun <3 But yeah, I'm stuck here ;
Lol, you have plenty of time to go through them ;D I think I might stop
submitting them... I hit the back of the book and just majorly went >__>;;
Anyway
Yes, it was nice. There were many other artists there, and
I enjoyed talking with them ^_^.
I will certainly be going through those scans, because I do want to comment on
them. I think they are wonderful indeed .
That would be a rather good idea- it'd be incentive to keep
logging in at least to keep your userpage content ;D
Right.
And like I said, different website do it differently, so MT would have to decide
exactly what happens to various types of user content, but making it
"parked/suspended" somehow may be an effective sysem.
Quote: Well, I don't really know
how the others would want to approach inactive accounts- in a way they're just
there and they don't really bother anyone. So yeah, it might be a good to just
reset their userpage content- put it on expire or something like that
:3
Is the content no taking up valuable server space though?
I would figure that if all the inactive accounts were, hypothetically speaking,
deleted right now that we would probably notice a difference in server
efficiency? Just a hypothetical question.
Quote: It was quite recently (and
by that, about 6 months ago) that we added the criteria in. I don't think using
a camera is a problem as long as you get all the lighting right and it's of high
quality (ie. you can see the details). Some people use cameras on white bond
paper (baaad) and use a flash making the edges go all dark. We had to introduce
that criteria to maintain just a standard of quality from the transformation of
the tactile to the digital. I don't think it's a problem- just don't mention it
lol. If we can't tell, and you don't say it, nobody will know It's only
those really poorly done submissions (bad lighting as I mentioned before) which
we can tell are bad we'd delete.
If it really concerns you though, just start up a thread in the forum (I think
in the Minitokyo forum... if I remember correctly) to bring up the
topic.
Not a problem at all- I'm glad I'm of some help
^^/
I see, well I guess it's not really a big deal. I guess I
won't worry about it, unless someone else does. If that ever happens, I can make
my case then :P.
Indeed, you have been very helpful, and I appreciate it. Unfortunately I am not
able to give you anything in appreciation... ...soo this will have to
do...
~~~~<@ ...a flower for Misa-chan
So thank you again for writing me, and take care ^_^...
Yup, if you see any submissions like that, report them.
Submissions with inadequate descriptions are not really allowed (especially the
smiley ones)
Roger!
But sometimes it does seem to report gallery items that could have been made by
the members but just forgot how they made it.......
But I guess that makes sense........ because they should remember and write down
how they made the wallie.......
I will report those wallies from now on
misa <3!
sankyuu for moving it! I have put it to kunie's category, but it changed itself
;_;
also for the fav and the help! <333 *chu chu chuuuu* kiru will gives you much
Quote by kuroimisaYeah, I thought that
if the colours changed it'd probably change it all and the whole concept
It'd be indeed nice to see them as the real piece
Thanks so much for your faves on my "RESET" scans ^__^
And sorry about this late reply~ I was a bit caught up doing stuff over the past
few days ;D
Last night we had the reception for the group
show which this painting was made for. I had some very good feedback on it, so
I'm fairly excited about it ^__^. I wish you could have been there
>__<.
And you're welcome. I think those scans are absolutely wonderful. I will try to
make time and comment on some of them. I could favor them all, but there are
just so many, so I faved the ones I liked best. But now you've got a bunch more
up, so I'm falling behind .
Quote: But anyway, just to recap on
your 4 suggestions:
1. Forum subscriptions- will probably make do- if not we'll have to move the
"recently participated threads" thing to a more prominent place
2. [img] tags would probably be an option (I'm hoping this will be soon- who
knows...)
3. For the multimedia tags, I think we could limit these to like one or two per
page rather than have unlimited insertations of these tags... this is just to
make the pages shorter and faster to load, but also let users to have their own
customised pages and to continue being happy, but learn to be selective at the
same time...
4. Inactive accounts... well, we've never really thought of the idea of closing
them down, because a lot of inactive accounts would also include banned members,
and we need to keep a record of them. There's also the chance of that user
coming back after several years... but for sure, we need our email password
retrieval system to actually work before that
Thank you again for taking my input seriously. I suppose
if you don't want to remove inactive accounts, then maybe the first part of that
suggestion would still be valuable. After a certain period of inactivity, the
account could be "suspended." This could mean lots of things, but it
would still be kept in the system. Though when people go to the user's page, the
theme may be back to the default MT theme, and the it would simply say that the
user is no longer active. Kind of like archiving the information, especially the
unnecessary parts (i.e. UP media, etc.). The user's submissions would still be
accessible of course. If the user returns, then they would have to go through a
reactivation process. It's probably a complicated thing to setup, but it would
further reduce server load.
Quote: A lot of the older members I
remember being here on Mt left due to mostly the gallery and credits associated
with it. Some people were just turned away because of the prospect of having to
pay to upload... when the credits usually roll back rather quickly
Others left because their friends did and so on... others did for personal
reasons. I know one great waller who turned inactive because her Photoshop
doesn't work any more... :|
I guess we'll just have to keep on trying
I realize that there are extenuating circumstances at
times. After all, when I was traveling last year, I was inactive for about 7 or
8 months. So I do understand that. Still there are probably a number of users
who have barely contributed, or not at all, and then they leave and you never
hear from them again. Those accounts should probably be dealt with somehow as
well. So anyway, that's one solution I have seen other website implement in
different ways, and I think it's one possible way of dealing with that
problem.
Quote: Thanks a lot for your
replies and helpful suggestions
*bows*
PS: Try not to mention that you took your doujinshi with a camera
Shhh- if you peek into the Policy, you'll know why
Thank you very much for bringing that to my attention. I
did read that part of the policy, and I believe very strongly that it should be
amended. The guidelines for doujins are 600,000 pixels. My work is in a large
format, and the only scanning option I have is to pay a commercial printing
company to use their commercial scanner. In other words it's not
possible.
I have worked in galleries and museums, and I have the experience to document
large work in high quality. The painting I just submitted comes in at almost 2.6
million pixels. I believe that this more than exceeds the quality requirements.
If you would like, you can tell me whom I should contact regarding this part of
the policy, and I will bring my case before them.
I don't want to put all of these things in your hands, but I did want to explain
myself. You have been tremendously helpful to me already Misa-chan ^_^, and I
want you to know that I very much appreciate it.
I'll try to get to those scans of yours soon . Take
But now I just missed it too much... I already started another thing. Well who knows whether I will ever finish it!
I am in Germany at the moment... but on Monday I go back to Austria. I am happy because it is so hot here... and I want to go swimming in Austria. Here we don't have any nice lakes, only dirty ones... Nothing compares to the lake I know in Austria so I don't like swimming here.
Hmm... ok I must stop procrastinating now and get back to my work!
Good luck to you! Take care and I hope to hear from you again soon!
Oh yeah... have I mentioned that I started my lessons on vector-making from a friend?
Hello Misa,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... I'm not sure... maybe I am one day too late, it's a bit confusing with the time difference of Europe and Australia... *lol*
Hopefuly you didn't have too much work on your birthday... if so... just make sure to relax and party on another day... I "postponed" my birthday relaxation enjoyment days so often by now...
Take care and I hope all is going well for you!
Yes, it was nice. There were many other artists there, and I enjoyed talking with them ^_^.
I will certainly be going through those scans, because I do want to comment on them. I think they are wonderful indeed
.
That would be a rather good idea- it'd be incentive to keep logging in at least to keep your userpage content ;D
Right. And like I said, different website do it differently, so MT would have to decide exactly what happens to various types of user content, but making it "parked/suspended" somehow may be an effective sysem.
Is the content no taking up valuable server space though? I would figure that if all the inactive accounts were, hypothetically speaking, deleted right now that we would probably notice a difference in server efficiency? Just a hypothetical question.
I see, well I guess it's not really a big deal. I guess I won't worry about it, unless someone else does. If that ever happens, I can make my case then :P.
Indeed, you have been very helpful, and I appreciate it. Unfortunately I am not able to give you anything in appreciation... ...soo this will have to do...
~~~~<@ ...a flower for Misa-chan
So thank you again for writing me, and take care ^_^...
Roger!
But sometimes it does seem to report gallery items that could have been made by the members but just forgot how they made it.......
But I guess that makes sense........ because they should remember and write down how they made the wallie.......
I will report those wallies from now on

Last night we had the reception for the group show which this painting was made for. I had some very good feedback on it, so I'm fairly excited about it ^__^. I wish you could have been there >__<.
And you're welcome. I think those scans are absolutely wonderful. I will try to make time and comment on some of them. I could favor them all, but there are just so many, so I faved the ones I liked best. But now you've got a bunch more up, so I'm falling behind
.
Thank you again for taking my input seriously. I suppose if you don't want to remove inactive accounts, then maybe the first part of that suggestion would still be valuable. After a certain period of inactivity, the account could be "suspended." This could mean lots of things, but it would still be kept in the system. Though when people go to the user's page, the theme may be back to the default MT theme, and the it would simply say that the user is no longer active. Kind of like archiving the information, especially the unnecessary parts (i.e. UP media, etc.). The user's submissions would still be accessible of course. If the user returns, then they would have to go through a reactivation process. It's probably a complicated thing to setup, but it would further reduce server load.
I realize that there are extenuating circumstances at times. After all, when I was traveling last year, I was inactive for about 7 or 8 months. So I do understand that. Still there are probably a number of users who have barely contributed, or not at all, and then they leave and you never hear from them again. Those accounts should probably be dealt with somehow as well. So anyway, that's one solution I have seen other website implement in different ways, and I think it's one possible way of dealing with that problem.
Thank you very much for bringing that to my attention. I did read that part of the policy, and I believe very strongly that it should be amended. The guidelines for doujins are 600,000 pixels. My work is in a large format, and the only scanning option I have is to pay a commercial printing company to use their commercial scanner. In other words it's not possible.
I have worked in galleries and museums, and I have the experience to document large work in high quality. The painting I just submitted comes in at almost 2.6 million pixels. I believe that this more than exceeds the quality requirements. If you would like, you can tell me whom I should contact regarding this part of the policy, and I will bring my case before them.
I don't want to put all of these things in your hands, but I did want to explain myself. You have been tremendously helpful to me already Misa-chan ^_^, and I want you to know that I very much appreciate it.
I'll try to get to those scans of yours soon
. Take
care...!
