scanning at 72ppi [pixels per inch]. i suggest
scanning at 300 ppi minimum. this will allow for more info [pixels] to be
displayed. i usually scan at 1200ppi [but this is overkill] and 600ppi at
the[minimum].
ah i see- you use Paint Shop Pro. i started out on PSP myself- excellent program
for the price. here is an example of a Hiroki
Mafuyu scan i did. the
interesting thing is if the SET COMPRESSION VALUE is above 25% the image pixels
contract together. in essence it will be the equivalent of using a filter which
joins the pixels tightly together. another useful tool i have found is scanning
directly into PSP itself. this is under FILE IMPORT TWAIN ETC.
please don't think i am being over-critical you are doing great work.
Thank you for your suggestions. I don't think you're being over critical
=]
Anyways, I'm not using Paint Shop Pro. Image is scanned with my scanner software
at 600dpi and then optimized in Photoshop 7 using the Save for Web function to
reduce file size. Therefore, DPI is changed from 600 to 72. My artbook dimension
is only 10x10", scanning at only 72dpi would mean that the image height is
only 720px, not 3000px like you see here.

Guten Morgen (this time in German... *lol*) Lord DREAM,
I just got out of bed and before I start reading and writing for university, I
want to answer to your last entry on my userpage...
Yes, of course I am still active... sometimes it just takes very long to submit
a new entry. University must be my priority right now so the only time that I
can dedicate to creating wallpapers is in the evening and very often during the
last weeks I have simply felt too tired. The part time job also doesn't really
help me to find more time... anyways I am even happier when I finally finish
something...
Hmm... I applied for the paint-o-rama group... finally... how often have you
been telling me by now? *lol*
I'm already working on something new, two things actually one original and one
isn't. And I can't help it, I feel a lot more pleasure when I'm working on my
own drawings. Anyways I would really like to wall this one scan... If only I had
more time!
Well I only made Amano wallpapers at the very beginning... the first few weeks
that I got Photoshop! I really knew nothing.... and I don't like my old
wallpapers too much anymore! I just keep them in the gallery to see whether or
not I am getting better. Yesterday I looked at my first vector... It looks
horrible! *lol* So I actually would like to make a new Amano wallpaper because I
do think I could do better ones than are in my gallery now. So again: If only I
had more time!
I haven't submitted anything new on Deviant Art...
I am still working on my diploma and that paper must be around 100 pages long...
I think I collected all the comics now, read a lot of books etc. So only some
days ago I actually started writing. The topic is rather difficult since these
comics are being overlooked, or maybe they are still too new... and well comics
in generally are not really accepted as much as they should be. But the
situation is improving. More and more are making it into the feuilletons of
famous newspapers. But yeah it's a bit risky considering the fact that there are
many conservative university professors and they rather appreciate works on
pieces of high literature. Well I wanted to do something different... so I am
taking the risk! ;-)
Yes, I am still working in the clothing store... and after graduation I'll go
where my job takes me. If it was just me, I'd like to go to a foreign country...
*lol* I feel bored around here and I'd like to go on an adventure... But my mom
is already complaining all the time about her children living too far away.
Anyways I'll see... now I'll finish my university...
Hmm... I am truely sorry about your sister. I can't imagine what happened and I
don't want to ask questions cause it must be very painful. I only have one
sister... I don't even wanna imagine how I'd feel if she was gone. Hmm
truely speechless... Well I guess you hear that a lot but I really do hope that
you'll feel better soon. We're all living on this planet pushing the thought of
death away from us as much as possible... and when such things happen it's hard
to accept, especially when young people die. My sister and me both lost a class
mate at school... so that wasn't even a family member and it was horrible when
the chair was left empty every day and that person wouldn't return anymore to
take the seat. But it
is important to continue with life... anyways I don't want to write a long
speech here. And I don't want to cause any more pain by writing all
this...
Have you found an interesting job by now?
I guess finding a job here can be a serious hassle in Germany as well... I'm a
bit scared of that... anyways it's important to be optimistic...
Well... time to dedicate myself to my diploma work...
Thanks for the lines in my guestbook and I hope to hear from you again soon!
Take care... and a bientot!

i could really go for some vodka and meth right now.

note: i just viewed your sketch. wow; lady alterlier that's awesome- i would
love to see that colored in primarily dark colors.
do you have a deviantart account?
ha...I was going to use that scan, who knows why I didnt...
the drug reference as you called it, is the most important thing in the whole
thing, not only the meth, the same colors are very representative, I'm very glad
you like it.

and the one on the web-site banner you set up.
but i can offer my services as a judge if i can't get a wall together. we both
know how bad i am at extending scans. lol
sure is nice to receive art-book[s] for your birthday isn't it?
The original scan was cut off in the beginning ;D As in, even if you looked into
the page fold, her hair was cut off. I'm not sure if the original artwork is
complete, or perhaps it was done like that intentionally *__* It's a good crit
to make <3
I was actually tossing up between that scan (The cover) and the orange one I
picked. I thought it'd be quite ironic if I picked the cover scan, because it
resembled the Amano one for omni's original Arete so much it would have been
almost a replica of the past project :P I also picked the orange one to kind of
force people to extend the scan if they wished... Or
then there's the possibility of cutting half her face off, etc- there are a lot
of things that are possible. (drawing in shoulders, a body, an
"abstract" burst as her body...)
You're very good at extending scans ;-; The extension you did on your last work
was actually seamless-

The interesting thing about this piece, is that I had just finished it, and it
sold within a week of being put in the show! So it's gone now, and I'm a little
sad '. I really liked her, and sometimes I get attached to my pieces. But now,
because the piece is not in the show anymore, the gallery owner wants a new
piece. So I have two days (because of another upcoming event) to paint a new
painting. Yikes! Well, I'm about 30% done with it now. So I guess that means
I'll be putting another new piece up on MT .
It was nice to hear from you. I curious if you're still active very much on MT.
I know that many older users haven't been doing as much anymore. If you have the
time, I'd be happy to hear from you again. Take care...
Thanks for your kind comments and the fave on the Macross wall ^_^ And also for
the promotion in NWP :P
I guess with the AreteII, I was just thinking of this scan: RESET10 by

I might even just run away and just... do it now *_*
There are just so many interpretations of it, and it's something wallable. It
seems that many people have started to just enjoy the scans, but I figured it
might do some good to hammer the metal while it's hot ;D
But indeed, you're right in saying a lot of them aren't wallable- I find most of
them are complete like the Ohgushi scans of yours <3
Anyway, I hope everything has been going well for you

didn't rely on the color black here; personally i would have made a darker bg. i
am jealous & marveling at your technical & artistic prowess. ^^
incredible job on "cleaning" up the scan and the graveyard looks
great.
i only have one minor crit: the gravestone itself i would have tilted a little
closer to the center. not dead center but slightly pulling to the left.
Lady Regenbogen- did you know in ancient Egypt the astrological concept Gemini
was potrayed by twin animals not humans?

Salut Lord Dream,
I missed you a lot around here... I guess you're busy with your job? It's always
nice to hear from you. And all these compliments... I am not sure whether my
wallpapers actually deserve them...
No black color in "Graveyard Rhapsody"... I know... well if you
remember past wallpapers of me, I was always working a lot with black. I like
the contrast of black and other colors. But this time it was my intention to
avoid any black and create a little spooky atmosphere only with red thus warm
colors... Maybe I just overused the black with my last original work...
*lol*
The position of the gravestone... I see... more to the center after all? Well it
took me some time to find a position for it...
I always experience these positioning troubles in my wallpapers...
I read about gemini and its origin in greek mythology... about Kastor and
Polydeukes... and there are different tales concerning their parents. But yeah
so I enjoyed to draw this crown on the gravestown... that I saw on some photo
during my gravestone research. *lol* Many people tell me that my walls were
simple... but I actually put quite some effort into them...
Thanks for the compliments. Your opinion is very important since I appreciate
your taste on art. I am sorry that again I wasn't using one of your fantastic
scans of Amano's art works. *sigh* Somehow I feel as if I lost the mindlessness
of the days when I only started to make wallpapers. I simply enjoyed Amano's
works and I was less scared to use them for my wallpapers. Now they just look
too perfect to me...
Most happy to read that "Graveyard Rhapsody" made it to your desktop!
I must get back to my uni work now...
Hope to hear from you again soon... take care and "a bientot"!

To Dream,
I don't believe I've had the pleasure of encountering anyone else in this anime
art community whom has shown such dedication nor longevity in collective nature.
Undoubtedly you own the largest and most unrivalled collection of Amano scans
this community could possibly offer. A visit to your personal website (of which
was a vast pleasure, I assure you) neatly discusses your adoration of collecting
art books. A distinguished hobby that I can personally second in enjoyment.
Taking a liking to Neil Gaimen's The Sandman is also within my reach as
much as I see it being part of yours. I can't remember if I've commented on your
guestbook before. If I have then it would have been about two years ago. All in
all, your User Page artwork still displays a great vector illustration of Death!
I remember it was some time ago now. I released a particular work within the
Hellsing gallery and you were kind enough to come along and comment on it. It's
been too long since last I looked over the patronage of others, but I remember
your words being most flattering at the time.
All in all, I wanted to come around now that I've returned after so long, and
say a few things:
1) To thank you for indeed having the largest collection of Amano and affiliated
beautiful scans within your gallery. It's been my one-stop-shop for resources
for a while now.
2) To thank you for having similar interests to my own. It's always nice to find
out someone else likes something you do.
3) To thank you for taking the time to look over my gallery. Those works are
very old now. And extremely experimental considering the level of my productions
today. A great deal of them cannot be published here in MT. (General clash of
interests)
Regardless, next time you're around, drop me a line and let me know you're
there. I've recently gotten a copy of Amano's 'The Tale of Genji' which is
certainly worth sharing images, unless you've already got a copy in your
possession.
