kashi-san! esp for the background... and from the thumbnail, it looks like a
scan
one thing though, it looks a bit.. odd, that some parts have softer (almost
airbrushed) shading, while other parts are crisp cell-shaded. Esp on his skin, I
think it looks a bit out of place that it looks more painty and airbrushed while
his hair is so sharp... You can try using gradients, but still keep the
edges/contours between the colours/shapes sharp and vectored-like.
anyway, good luck on the contest!
First off:
Now about the skin shading... Actually I tried to use nonsmoothed gradients, but
that looked REALLY bad. And I mean REALLY bad. I tried about a dozen of
different styles for the skin, but in the end I used the properties of both skin
and hair. Skin is a unitary surface (so when the light toouches it it will give
an airbrushed feeling) unlike hair which, well you know are many, so I made them
into locks of hair...
I know it's not perfect but I really tried to make something with that...
Yea, how do you know that? But I
don't know if he can change it or not...

lol, yeah I like doing those fruity walls. And I would like to continue the
series, but I'm out of ideas for profound fruity quotes... anything you can
think of? Like maybe for grapes or blueberries or oranges?
...
Hmm, I don't have any idea on fruity stuffs I just
love to eat them.
Quote by MapleRose
btw, did you guess for which?waller ?
Not yet. There are few walls that I recognize, but it's really hard..
Thanks! and yeah, I rarely use asymmetric, though I do use line nodes for square
thingys (like window frames, floorboards etc). I didn't know about the
point-to-point segment at first, so I started with the freehand when I was just
learning (and I'd go back to edit the nodes).
lol, yay I got to it first! ^___^
I noticed you used freehand on your Murrue's vector tutorial. I was confused
when I read that, cuz I only use the point-to-point segment. But actually,
before I use the cusp shortcut, I used the knife to cut paths, and edit them.
It's quite weird to use that technique.
Anyway, if you can have tutorial on vectoring real-life human, that's going to
be awesome!
haha thank you very much for the comment, and the fav! ^^ Really happy you liked
it. Sorry that i am kind of late... but im happy that you liked it!
haha!
Love
~Kioko~
I like the the colours, very calming. and nice clouds. wow, you have nice
writing ^__^. though I'm not too fond of the overlaying texture (?) that makes
it look like it's raining or something...
nice work
Hiii
Im glad you liked the few elements of my wall "High"
happy you liked the writing, is almost like my real handwriting ^_^
the texture was for that, to give a lil rainy effect, but guess with a bit more
transparency will look better
anyway many thanks for the comment
yay! can't wait to see your entry for DSC's contest
btw, did you delete your WHR doujin? I remember seeing it, and was gonna comment
on it, but forgot.. and now I can't find it
:D ah yeah i deleted it. i decidd to improve that one a bit. i thought, honestly
that it is a bit er...ugly. hehehe....ill make another WHR, one that is more
appropriate.
Quote by MapleRoselol, well gaara, I
think the idea of this is kinda different from DSC (I dunno about 'made to
create' though), so it might work, as long as you ADVERTISE, (which is how I got here, but following segnoj's sig
).
Affiliating or starting some kind of group activity works too
btw, just to clarify, so only self-created characters (or character-less stuff)
are allowed?
and yeah I'm all for 'oringinal' art (methinks it deserves more attention),
count me in

oh yeah, forgot to mention that the orange logo thing is pretty cool
Yeah, gotta to advertise, but since I haven't really decided on a solid purpose
and still under construction so I just thought I'll get everything all together
before advertising
Yup, pretty much, as long as it's original art that you have thought up on your
own made from scratch is always welcome!
Thank you for joining Oringinal! Your original work definitely qualifies you to
be a member! It's great to have you
Quote by MapleRosenice work! esp for
your first painting great
vectoring (you've improved so much! ) ,
esp with the transparent-ness of her dress.
like gaara mentioned, I like the colour scheme. The clouds are not as bad as you
think, though it could be smoothed out a bit more (esp on the left side). The
rocks... I think the main reason is that it's over-smudged, so it looks too soft
for rocks (but I'm never good at doing them either...)
yeah it does lack a bit of depth. The shading on Lacus could be emphasized a lot
more, esp given that the light source seems to be directly behind her (which
would make her almost a silhouette).. though I think there is another light
source seeing as how Kira's lighting is coming from the right...)...
Also, Lacus' shadow looks too sharp. It should be softened a bit.
anyway, good luck on the contest! I'd
like to see how the water is done for the tutorial, I esp like those reflection
sparkles
I forgot to menton that I was going to try your water tutorial, but... since it
was only PSP 8 you used it didn't work when I tried to on CS2. I'm glad you were wondering if I would make a water tutorial plus the
sparkles. I'll try to make one then.
Thanks for the comment on the wallpaper and good luck to you too in the contest.
I like the vectors of the people and the buildings, but the stars look kinda
odd, because it's brushed-on while everything else is vectored, so it looks a
bit out of place...
Also, there's lots of pixelation of the colours, because bright colours and
JPEGs don't get along When
converting to JPEG, use "JPEG Optimizer" under File -> Export (You
are using PaintShopPro, right?) instead of "Save As", and set the
compression value to 1. That should minimize the pixelation.
Otherwise, good job with the wall
thx for your comment ^^ did you use reference photos for the
buildings?
nope i just messed around with the rectangle tool etc. Also, there's lots of pixelation of the
colours, because bright colours and JPEGs don't get along When converting to
JPEG, use "JPEG Optimizer" under File -> Export (You are using

ah i see, sankju for telling me that =]~
urgh i hate the thumbs it's so pixellated ;_;
hehe cool, how long have you been learning Chinese?
Thanks so much for the fave! and thanks for the fave on my wallpaper too
Not too long... just a couple months or so, every now and then [I thought that,
if I'm going to Japan, I might as well learn a little Chinese too, you can never
know when it comes in handy ].
Quote by MapleRoseIt does look better
with the shadows, however, the shadows should be much darker. It looks like a
sunset/sunrise scene, so the sun is low in the sky, which means the shadows are
pretty dark. Some places, the shadow you have is barely visible, like the girl's
shadow.
Also, remember that shadows aren't so sharp like that. Either soften it, or
smudge it a bit.
Finally, the direction of the shadow looks a bit.. wrong. The way you have it
right now, looks makes it look like the sun should be visible in the sky. But
it's not. So the shadows should be slanted to the right a bit more.
I took your wall and drew on it to show you what I mean. I hope you don't mind
blue for shading, I think it's because as a general rule you're supposed to use
complimentary colours for shadows. So if you use oranges and yellows for
highlights, you're supposed to use blues and purples for shading. I forgot about
that ^^; and used browny grey for shading...
^^; Hehe... I happen to look at the guestbook messages in Paint-o-rama. There is
no problem when you use browny grey for shading for that is the end color you
will get when you mix orange and purple it will result to that browny grey.
^^;
If you want an explanation why. The simplest would be that complementary colors
cancel out each other causing the greying and by adding orange with violet would
produce a bronish like hue. So why do they cancel out? It is because a third
primary exist in the mix.
BTW that general rule is only for styles like realism and does not comply to
most other contemporary or anti-verism styles.
On your latest question about the moon stuff. Use a warm blue. Warm colors does
not necessarily mean the colors analogous to the yellow side of the wheel.
Whats a "monochrome" ?
you could even JOIN THE GROUP LOL
Thank you for your feedback! :3 It helped me a lot to correct some parts of the wallpaper =D
I updated and changed several things on my wallpaper, so please have a second look!

Ok, I'l try to to guess some randomly.
Yeah, it's really frustrating. I don't know if my vector for the contest will finish before the deadline. How about your vector?
Thanx, and it's really simple.
aw thanks a lot for your comment and fav on my Lama fea Lalwende vector

Yeah, like on human vector. Just a try-out.
Draw it straight vector
I got inspired first, and drew it on a paper. Coz I don't have a scanner, lol,
so, I vectored it without reference layer.
Yeah, I did it on purpose, to make the swirls move around the whole wall naturally. lol.

Thank you! Oh, wow, I'm featured on your page, too! I feel so special! lol.
Sure, though I'm woefully ignorant of exactly how to join the clubs and group things on here...
I've seen this somewhere before as well. Lolz to the artist. And yeah he does after look like one.

Hey, thanks for commenting, faveing and nominating my stuff

I love you Lain wallpaper btw
