I just started watching samurai 7 myself! To join a group just hit the-apply for group- located on the left side of the page. Also on this page are the requirements for the group. Anyone that is a member has a link on there page (mine is on left) this is an eazy way to get there. For the samurai group just talk about the anime and anything related to samurai. Hope this helps Any Q: you can always go to SUPPORT at the far right at the top af every page.

The manga is clearly better than the anime ! The first adaptation is really weird with poor animation, and the second is even worst ! 0_0

the basics should be the same, like putting the two pieces together so they line up properly, removing fold lines, and recreating missing parts. that's what most would have done...same just as you and i would have. what'll vary is how much time a user is willing to put in to clean up the scan afterwards. really there isn't many way to do it. people may use different programs though like i use Photoshop instead. never tried GIMP so i don't know the features.
