If I remember correclty, Kazuma's armored fist pops up out of the rubble after
their fight, indicating his victory over Ryuho. I may be remembering it wrong
though.

between them.....They went to college together, and they had a relationship, but
they could not quite tell each other that they loved them. Because of this,
their relationship fell apart, and Misato and Kaji both yearn for that time
again. The main reason for their relationship problems would be Misato's past.
She was at the Antarctic research base with her father when they unleased Adam,
the first angel. Adam killed everyone, save Misato. She saw her father die, as
he put her in an escape pod. Hope that explains some things.
