Quote by frozenwildernessI can see you put a lot of effort into making this.... but... who can really ever use this on their desk? While the idea is nice, the vector is done without much attention to the strokes of the lines and it is apparent that all the lines were done with the "stroke path" technique. The color scheme also hurts the eyes a bit. I think that your wall is interesting to look at as an image but as a desktop, it doesn't really work.

effort....maybe a bit
its a wall, if you want it as a desktop, feel free to use it, if you dont... its ok
i dont use "stroke path" technique since i dont do outlines in photoshop, i draw them in illustrator, and theyre done like that in purpose, i wanted to see equal bold lines in all the vector...
the color scheme is just the one that i wanted, dark colorfull and strong as someone said a shot to your retina :nya:
its just a "what do the waller wants" thing.
glad you liked my wall

Quote by frozenwildernessDesktop, wall, same thing... walls are made to be used on the desk, right? And yes, I do understand illustrator does the lines that way; however, next time you do lines, consider tracing around the outside of the actual lines instead of just placing path points down in the middle of them -- they'll still be dark and bold but they will have much more character to them. While you seem to like the equal thickness of the lines, they actually make the image look rather flat and unflexible, like they were pasted onto the background. The color scheme... although I understand it was purposefully done, in my personal opinion, I don't think it really works that well. Even if you did intend it to be bold with high contrast, something about the mix of dark brown, green, purple, and red/pink just doesn't go too well together. There are still ways to combine bold colors that catch the eye, but I think the execution could have been improved... maybe say, try balancing the wall towards one color while adding in a few small spots of complementary color? Anyway, like I said, it's a really interesting idea and an interesting image to look at, but I don't think people could keep it as their wallpaper for long, just due to the lack of icon space and somewhat overly chaotic appearance of it all.

I know you walled this because you just did what you felt like doing, but sharing it with the public anywhere online also means that others have the option to critique and make suggestions. While you don't have to take them into consideration or make any actual changes, you don't have to be so defensive about it; we're only here to help, and possibly open your eyes to another point of view you may not have really given any thought to.

still saying, that was the way i wanted to look at my wall, a mess!
anyways thanks for all the advice, its really appreciated
take care

Quote by frozenwildernessI love the color combination... never seen you work in color before.. but to do something like that with acrylics... wow, I don't even know how to handle that stuff X__x

Neither do I lol, but yeah color is fun so I hope to learn fast. And acrylic is quite easy (well some people do crazy things with it though), when I get used to it I want to try oil painting. By the way, your cging is getting like really good, do you improve thanks to tutorials or just by practicing?
Oh and happy holydays to you :)

Hmm and my cging... I don't really think my skills have improved that much, since I rarely ever get to the actual cg part of a picture.. I cg like 1 out of 50 drawings that I start. I've also read tutorials and stuff but they don't really help much because I find myself unable to handle the way other people cg and most are just basic tutorials which don't teach that much... I mostly mess around until I get something that I think is alright. I think it just looks like I've improved because I try out more layer modes and do more stuff in attempt to find the appropriate colors for something (like color adjustment - I'm so cheap). I dunno though, but thanks for the compliment :) I'll just have to keep up a semblance of improvement lol XD

Yeah I so want an undo button in real life xD
Haha anyway my first cg was horrible enough to stop me from trying more lol. And yeah, I feel the same about tutorials, so I was wondering if it was just me. Unless its basic stuff, you cant really get much out of them since everyone has it's own style. And everyone uses cheap tricks lol, to most people who dont know much about CG (like me) it's difficult to image the process the artist went through, so as long as the result is pretty I guess it's ok xD But I think I know how you feel, I feel so cheap when I hide mistakes under folds and overshading to make them pretty xD

Quote by frozenwildernessUnfortunately, I think I'm going to have to disagree with this highlight. I really like the concept.. but personally I think your paint job was sloppy rather than neat or stylistic. I know you wanted to go for a watercolor/paint effect but to me it just looks a mesh of photoshop round brushes that the you used on low opacity/flow. Additionally, I don't really think the lighting is that great.. it could have been a lot more dramatic imo, but it seems that it's more diffused throughout the picture and isn't intended to bring focus to the character, nor is it situated accurately in some areas. Seeing the sky as it is now, I'd recommend doing backlighting, and darkening the front of the character while just highlighting her sides to show that light is coming from behind her. Anyway, you get props from me for the effort... hopefully next time you'll learn to refine your painting & coloring style a bit more and I'll look forward to seeing an improvement.

that was quite an interesting comment.
thanks for the props.
