Quote by candy-chantsh, and you say you don't get any comments on MT? ;)

I honestly dunno why, I think I'm incapable of telling how well a wall will do any more, since overall I still that Parakiss wall is still relative fail concept-wise... lol <.<

Quote by candy-chanbeing part of a circus is my huge phantasm~ lovely scan.
i might try to do something with it

I would dearly love to see what you would do with the Circus scan. Hell, I'd just love to see you or Brom just use one of my scans. I'll just keep submitting them till you do...

Quote by candy-chansorry for the late comment o_o
anyways its really neat overall, paint is not overdone or smushy, bg fits and the texture isn't off. The only negative thing I see is your shading. See how it turns bright orange in the face/hand area? Well that's not bad per-se, but normally if something is in the shadow, it will not be as saturated. We all know that when there is no light, there is no colour o_o That's why some painters use cold colours like blue to add effective shadowing to skin, and use bright yellows for highlights (which isnt a problem for you here)
so probably that, with much less saturated shadows (or even if it's on a separate layer hue it to blue and change the blending mode) it would look better. And that part would blend in with your dark blue bg wall.

I didn't even think of that! I'll go and (try) to fix it right away =D
Thanks a bunch for the comment~

Quote by candy-chanbtw you were wondering if you could submit this as a p-o-r contest entry, well I'd have to say no. You can always submit it but I'd have to give you really low marks on respect of theme o_o
read the guidelines again if you want to compete :]

-lol- I know it will be a no. :hmpf: Anyway, can you comment my wallpaper? I need improvement. >_<

Hey Candy-chan! Thanx for the comment, and I really appreciate it.:) I'm working to fix it now. I have trouble to paint over the cells, to make it look painty. Can you tell a lil bit more? And should I smudge it too?

merged: 01-21-2007 ~ 04:28pm
I've updated the wall, you can check it if you want. Thanx again for the advice. :)

Thanks for adding my wallpaper "Sasameke - Maiko" to your favourites^^

r q g

Thanks for the fav Candy-chan! I really appreciate it :)

Sorry to bother you, but I've got a tiny question about the "Let There Be Light" contest for P-o-R.
When you said "well, any MT category is alright" in the thread, does that include like, the Final Fantasy series? I just want to be absolutely sure, or else I'll stop what I'm doing now and start on something else OX

Get on MSN when you can.

thanks for the fav ^^

:D incredible wallpapers...

Quote by candy-chanI believe there is no official way to translate japanese pronunciation into our alphabet. the O is often written as "ou" or "oo" because of it's pronunciation. So hah! You don't know far enough!
and no im not moving that text >_> it breaks the line and adds a dynamic element to the composition by overlapping the hair

i know that you know that i know you know that you misspelled the word. ;)

Quote by candy-chanI'm not a fan of Christian values much, but this wall is great. I like the scan you chose and how you worked with it a lot. very light~

so what direction is your "moral-compass" pointing, lady candy-chan? mine's pointing down- btw.

: tosses black rose with thorns :
au revoir

Quote by candy-chanI like how you worked with blue shadows and yellow highlights, and everything looks nicely blended and stroked. The thing to work on would be proportions; the left thigh seems odd and the left arm & hand a bit distorted. Did you try the good old trick of flipping your sketch to see the errors pop out?
anyways, keep up the good work~

The proportions are ok. The so called distortion is caused by foreshortening and the fish eye like approach which is more visible in the complete version. There you will see why the other leg is slightly bigger than the other one and the left arm and hand in tilted backwards. Anyway thanks... btw I inverted it (the complete version) and it looks better than the correct position. ^^;

Thanks again.

Quote by DREAMyes, Mt does fail at "compression gradients"..
lol

she's how do they say "kawaii"?
text should be top right- not in her hair..
great vector & anime though

and you fail.
Abe no Seimei was an omnyouji, and that function has never been taken by a woman. And if you saw the anime you should know o_O

[edit] yes - i mixed that up with the game otogi2. in real life he was a man but has occasionally been portrayed as a female. that series is also like 3 yrs old i believe. :(

note:actually the correct term is "Onmyoji" as far as i know.
btw: i must see the live action movie "Onmyoji" since Amano-sama did the designs.

and move that text up somewhat- at least eye level..

Quote by candy-chanwohoo! a plug! :D

You're very welcome :D. I'm curious though how you found out about it so quick :P. Well, as I commented in reply to your comment, I do like your blog so I will probably be mentioning it again in the future.

Btw, I don't know if you still remember me, but I was curious if I'm still in your friendslist? I was gone for some time and lost a bunch of my friends on MT :P...

Quote by candy-chanIn the blog stats page on wordpress theres a section that shows incoming links haha.
Don't worry, you're still on my list XD

Oh that's right, doh! All I needed to do was look in my "mutual friends" section :P. Ooops... thanks for keeping me in there :D.

That's a nice feature Wordpress has got. I have a similar feature through Blogger and Technorati, but it's not something that's instananeous, nor does it notify me. So it takes a while before I notice a link, which is unfortunate.

It's good to hear from you btw. If you have nothing better to do, you can always check out the couple of new pieces that I uploaded not too long ago. I have a wall called Lucas Kane, and a new painting called With Open Eyes in my gallery. I can never remember who get notifications of new submissions under the new system anymore :P.

edit: bleh, merged XD

The Elite gallery was a strange idea from the moderators [at a time when I was still a normal member] to "upgrade" submissions to a higher level gallery. It was implemented as a solution to the complaints towards the low quality walls being deleted. So less things were deleted and better walls were being promoted. Admins, Mods and Elite members have the power to move submissions to the elite status, based on a few criteria like execution composition originality and such. Members also have the right to report items to be removed/added but I've never really seen it happen.
personally I don't think it's a great feature, plus no one actually sets their browsing settings to elite only.

Probably you are right that it is not a good feature here in MT. Its not like the way the GFXartist site promotes an artist to the elite level, wherein it must have very significant amount of votes from its members and must be nominated for the title. Well its actually hard to get that status there for there are a lot of veteran artists, art critics and aestheticians. Thanks for anwering query.

Quote by candy-chanheh pretty nice job extending the ribbons. Scan quality has some flaws and artifacts/jagged edges a bit everywhere sadly. But the yellow bg compliments well the warm colour of the scan, good choice on that :]
let me advertise PoR again :3 I love how painting is staring to be more popular, of course its lots of fun

thanks for the comment candy-chan! ^-^ glad you like the wallpaper, I'm still learning anyways ;p hopefully I can make more painty wallpapers so I can take a break from my vectoring streak o-o;; and don't worry, i'll help advertise paint-o-rama! >D

Owww. Why'd you kick me?!? Meanie.

If you weren't lying, then you must have really crappy luck in that regard. =PP

Hey I got the permission from Pegasus21 to use her vector. So do you now just restore it then I edit it, or do you want me to just resubmitt it? I am happy with either way. Talk to you later!
