Everything costs credits, regular participation earns them. What that means is constructive comments on other members submissions, participating in actual discussions in the forums. Submissions cost credits but most will earn you some in return by other members commenting or adding them to their favorites list. This should have all been explained very clearly in the link that was posted in the thread.
