I take it you're not a christian?
I am, but a xmas tree, is in actual fact not even a true christian item or relic of believe. The true origin of a xmas tree is an old heathen believe from somewhere in continental europe (I'm not sure where exactly) where they would hang lights from a tree to ward off evil spirits. This was done during the winter time. This was told te me by a christian minister.

In South Africa xmas is during spring, and the xmas tree is based on a northern pine tree, so you can see how even that doesn't truly fit into our belief.

There are a number of devoted christians who don't even bother with xmas apart from celebrating the birth of Christ. But then also, Jesus Christ was not born on the 25th December. This I read quite sometime ago. Even this date has another non christian origin.

So for a christian so say that calling it a holiday tree, a festivity tree, a what ever tree (without being openly disgraceful/disrespectful to someone's religion) is rather silly.
