I was reading your post in the purging announcement, and I'd like you to know that I agree strongly. I was wondering if you'd be at all interested in joining a protest against it? I wouldn't have used it here either, except Misa told me that if I wanted to say something, it's more likely to get noticed there... And as for custom-theme... I'm not too picky... DevArt's design is green, so I have no qualms =P

I agree. I'd rather be staring at white text on an absolute black screen all day than black text on a bright white screen, its alot easier on the eyes. I also just generally like dark colours alot more, they so much more deep.

I think that problem comes from an inability from some people to accept criticism. A couple of times, I havent meantioned that anything is really great, but I have pointed out a problem (not all that polite, but not rude either), and OH TEH noes!!!, they think I hate what they have come up with. imho, The people who wont point out problems are either too polite because they are afriad of something happening similar to that last sentence, they are too stupid or too much of a [insert-anime-here] fan to see or want to recognize problems, or they just cant be bothered.
A BIG problem I HAVE WITH MINITOKYO:
It seems the focus is only on anime here (with the odd abstract wall chucked in). I like it at DeviantArt, how they accept almost anything, even some non graphic stuff like poetry. I mean sure, this site is meant mainly for anime/manga, but come on, cant we see a bit of other types of art? I know alot of people here are into poetry (and the like), photography and non anime drawn art; I dont see any reason stuff like that shouldnt be accepted.
I would really like to share some of my photography here on Minitokyo, but oh no, it isnt anime or abstract and it wasnt made on a computer?, sorry but they dont want anything like that here on MT.
(Sorry about straying away from wallpapers and to art in general, but I think a conversation like this should cover more than just walls.)

Yup, I agree with you totally... Especially on the DevArt point... I think I enjoy DevArt more, because of the variety of artwork, and the fact that it's not just limited to anime/manga... But MiniTokyo's aim isn't to promote all types of artwork... It's just to promote Japanese culture, right? So I guess, because of their different purposes, they've got different acceptance criteria. BUT I also think that it'd be great to see more of other media in mt... Maybe you could try incorporating your photography into a wall? That would probably increase the level of acceptance in the MT community... I know you're not interested in wallpaper making, but I'm just saying that in the wider MT community, people generally like wallpapers... Even *scans* aren't all that popular in terms of favourites and commenting [because I suppose it's so hard to make a good comment on a scan] Oh, and I like lots of things, as long as it looks good and interests me, I'm there ^^

Also, I don't mind telling people that their walls aren't great... Only problem is that they never bother reading it [probably]... Or, they don't like the fact that I said I didn't like it, and then ignore my helpful comments... *sigh* You can't please everyone.

But, if you have a DevArt account, please tell me it, 'cause I'd love to see your photography ^^
