i haven't talked with you in quite a few weeks. It certainly is surprising how quickly time passes. The UPenn early decision deadline is already only 2 weeks away. I certainly am glad I did my college essays during the summer.

How's graduate life treating you? I am still amaze that you are a graduate student at only age 20. I'm humbled. I hope you are doing well in your academics and also in other areas of life in general. I'm sure that your accelerated masters degree will go a long way in aiding you finding the perfect career, in the State Department was it that you said last time?

I'm plowing along, at well as can be I suppose. Senior year in highschool may not be as hassel free as I'd like it to be but I've somehow managed to stay on top of things relatively well.

Hello shin. Just dropping to say thanks on posting on my thread. You really have it all very detailed and I must say that it's really what I'm expecting from you since you're a political student, am I right? I trully agree on what you said on my thread but there are some issues that I did not inserted so my mistake.

hey its me again... sry i talk a lot!! anywho ... my mom went to Cornell and some of my friends who are seniors this year really want to go there ... they took the hockey program there during the summer and are in love with it now... i kind of want to go too but it will be a lot of work and im not really sure i could get in... do you like it? ohh by the way have you ever been to the supermarket there called Wegman's (i think) if you havent you should go... its amazing!!! tehe

Hello, shinsengumi. Long time no talk. How are you doing? I hope all is well. I now officially enroll at Old Westbury, and I must say that the environment there is quite good. My workload, however, is on the rise, and I unfortunately do not have as much free time as I would like to have to make wallpapers, some of which would've been far better in terms of the design. I also now have a job working at a local Kmart on the weekends, earning $7 an hour for the first days of training, and $7.25 after that. Hopefully, I'll be promoted to supervisor with my hard work because I know that hard work is the only way to excel in the world of today. In conclusion, I don't have as much internet time anymore.

I think the registrar screwed up my social security number because I'm trying to get into some of the quizzes I must take for my internet chemistry course, but I cannot do that. I know I must visit the registrar so they could amend the error. I will eventually register my school e-mail for the facebook once I find out what it is and add you in to my list of contacts.

I found out that the average cost of rent here in the city is $900. I will not be able to afford that kind of money even if I do get a good job here because it just costs way too much. I will be forced out of the place I have lived in for almost 20 years. I'm thinking about moving out to Canada, but I don't know how that sounds. I truly need to look into what houses are good and how much rent costs there.

For right now, I am stuck down here in the city without much free time thanks to school and my job. Hopefully, a vacation time will come by and I'll be able to take time off away from the city as long as my parents don't get on my case because I know how they are towards me most of the time...placing too much care and the house work on me instead of my brother and getting upset at me because I wish to do things for myself, not to mention that I have an online relationship (could it ever be considered that?) and my brother has a relationship right at home. Heh, I rambled on about everything.

First of all, I very much like the scan you selected for the photograph, and I think that it works particularly well with the nostalgic air you were going for in the wallpaper. The sepia tones certainly worked well in that respect. Along those same lines, I also like how you did not choose to fade out the photograph, as many others who have made wallpapers along the same lines have done, as effective composition still requires a certain degree of contrast to bring out the subjects.
The lettering and the lettering style also work well to enhance the piece. In short, it's a lovely work and I currently have it set as my desktop wallpaper both on my home computer (on both monitors) and at my workstation at school.
I do have one suggestion, though. While the burn marks along the edge of the photograph do lend to the general tone of the work, at times the burn mark is too grainy and seems a bit jarringly artificial. Otherwise, it is as close to a flawless work as I have seen in quite a while.

Hey, shinsengumi. Haven't been here in a while, either. I guess this shows just how far I've abandoned the forum to concentrate on the gallery. Still, though, I'm sorry to hear (however belatedly) that you've stepped down as a moderator. You have many of the qualities that good moderators are supposed to have, and the forum will be a lesser place for losing you as one.

Good luck in your studies. Maybe we'll get to talk on AIM again at some point. =D

(Also, allusions to Cincinnatus are awesome, and I salute you for making that one.)
