Quote by smilebiti love it. there is quite a deal of atmosphere here. the blue really
gives a calm feeling. really good. and the background. even if it is a
stock image, melds wonderfully. the whole composition is rather well
balanced. nice work dream. i'm glad to see you make it through. i was
actually thinking about using this scan too, i'll have to finish my
idea and dedicate the picture to you now. keep it real real.
a fav, of course.

thanks so much smilebit- i know how you are with art [im the same way] and a favourite from you means a lot to me. :) i just wish i could have done a better job extracting... if so i may have even had a chance to win..

but seriously it was my first wall and i really liked the bg.. like most things in life worth doing it will take practice and dedication. also my goals on making a wall are simple: make something with meaning [to me], with a certain amount of technical profiency [hopes], try different things, and ideally create a work which i myslef would impartially fav..

re: this upcoming vector. lol, dude i have NO idea.. at least with Shop i used PSP in the past for handling my scans.. anyhow i may need your help [as your skills are well incredible] and DC as well.

hell i don't even have Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand..

alright my friend i just wanted to thank you and i look forward to your wall. :)

btw- i am going to resend you the Comickers book.
lately i uploaded scans from :Io Art of the Wired: here are some of the artists

Ogi
Benjamin
Nahoo Lee
Wakaba
Wong Joysuke
Rain

alright keep it real.. real.. ;)

Thanks for the fave on my Elfen Lied wallpaper. I was beginning to think that no one was even going to look at it. Hope you will be just as satisfied with my future submissions. See you around.

Quote by jasaiyajinWhen you use words like
"degradation" in your explication of the topic, you assume that there
is a higher grade standard of comparison. It is a sneaky was to argue,
concealed is the illusive mind hiding behind the art.
I think most of us see the pictures as artistic to a degree, but not
degrading. Degrading would be women walking around with collars and
dogtags doing men's bidding as dog of a master. Some people have that
type of fantasy fetish even, so what can you say to them about
degradation?
I think the purpose of your post was just to elaborate an old question
that you have not analyzed thoroughly yourself by reason and
experience. What value is there in something when we are ashes to
ashes, and dust to dust.

there never was any value to begin with. the reason for my post was an
attempt to ellicit some response. the topic i chose, was one that i do
not understand, and that is why i chose it, in hopes of bringing an
understanding of the subject. however, degradation is not bound to
stereotypes. degradation is an act of one upon another with the focus
placed on one person feeling inferior. degradation is not always
sexual, or visual, there are many forms, as you should know. any
portrayal of someone as an object, not a human being, is degrading that
someone, for they are stripped of their humanity, and basic human
rights, and instead are viewed as a tangible object, which i feel that
it is commonly held that and object or any sort is inferior to that who
uses the object, in this case a human being. i will not deny the
artistic quality of the images that i have question, for those artists
who have drawn and colored them are talented far beyond my scope, and i
do not assume that all people agree with what i have asked. i only
attempt to understand something that i do not. thank you for your
reply, however, i do not appreciate your assumption on me. anyhow, keep
it real real.</font>

lol, i also wrote to illicit a response... by the way I know what degradation is and how boundful it is... however, it is a sneaky argument if you analyze degradation further. It is partially true what you stated, but it is also relative. Just because you believe so, does not make another share your believe. I don't agree with you on this point: "for they are stripped of their humanity, and basic human rights." I cannot see through your eyes, but that just seems silly to me. Perhaps, in your quest toward understanding, you can enlighted yourself and I as to why we are not degraded to the lowest level already.

Quote by smilebiti absolutely love this image. the scan is at a really nice angle and is just pleasant overall, and the background works great too. the angle. that is what i like, it is tilted. really great image, and very muted, and serene. i just wish you had vectored the bg. it would have flattened the image, bringing it together more. but still, great work.

Hi smilebit :) Thanks for the fave and comment on my wallie "shibuya hybrid"... just a note... the background was vectored even though it still looks 3d... the starbucks big building and most of the bigger buildings anyway... the rest was cutoutted :) But thanks a lot for the comment, it was really much appreciated ^_^

Quote by smilebitvery sorry i'm a moron. but i do like sarcasm. and the mellow colors of
your userpage. very calming to look at. plus, some of my favorite
colors to use. anyhow. sorry again for my being a moron and all. i can
only be what i am.
i got to check out your gallery some more later. keep it real real.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. We all have our roles to play. ;) I don't think you are a moron, but those views can be seen as moronic. Thanks for the compliment on my user page.

Quote by smilebitif you are still there. http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/48883/ could you direct me to the original artist? i did a vector of it awhile ago. and i want to give credit.

I found this picture on the imageboard 4chan, so the original artist sadly is to me unknown as well.

Thanks for signing my guestbook. ^^ And thanks for the compliment. I didn't draw that though, I'm not half as talented. But I did make it into the avatar and icon they are now. :P
They are from this great Japonese art website:

i woke up today. and the first thing i thought about was,"what's for breakfast?" i hadn't had a plan on what i wanted to eat, and i wasn't expecting anything, other than food in my tummy. bug it struck me as odd, that the first thing i think about, every morning, not matter what circumstance, is what is for breakfast? and no matter what i have, breakfast never gets old. a majority of the time it is cereal of some sort. kix, life, toasted out squares, and mini wheats are my favourites. however, i do not know why i find it odd. maybe because my mind is always on food, always. that might be in part because i'm so skinny, that i need food constantly to sustain myself, but i don't really believe that. but i've gone off on a tangent, and lost what i originally started to write about. but i'm back home,(parent's home) and i really feel a calm here. not the company per-say, more or less the area. the flatness, and the grand expanse of everything. what a wonderful thing it is to live in a town in the clouds.

Quote by smilebit:

hmm...well....i'm just wondering, you know, not to sound mean or anything, but all there is here is a radial blur and another filter i recognize, but can't recall the name. i mean, sure, nice extraction, and cute enough character, but is that all that is carrying this image?
i think you should spend more time on what you actually want to portray. seriously, look at the pose of the character and build your background around that pose. like this character looks like she is jumping, or maybe falling. what can you do with that notion. put her in a tree, with the perspective facing down, as though she is jumping from the tree.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have any filter tools, only a programme called Photo impression-which is made for slightly editing photos. I can't do anything like you said with my programme.
The character is just posing & the anime is set in space-no trees.
She is a very troubled & broken character, that is what I was trying to portray.
Sorry if I sounded rude.
Thanx for your advice, seeya!

Quote by smilebitso the car design is done by puegeot and the image surrounding the car is based on it. or is the car based on designs from puegeot and constructed by you?

anyhow, i really like the simplicity of this image as a whole. i'm not into cars that much, but i'll make an exception when it feels right. thanks for posting.

Thanks for your comment! As you said, the car was made by Peugeot designers. In others words I made the background, everything but not this car. :)

r q g

No problem on the fave ;) and am honoured you even think of checking my gallery XD
Oh, you are on WAR rite ? Good luck ^^

r q g

thx so much for the fav! i looked through your gallery; you've really got style! ^^

Quote by smilebitdream, dream, dream. i have some pretty weird ones. just thought that i would write some stuff into your userpage. 66. i see that all the time i come here. really? you're not lying? because that is great. i want to be like you, or become like you when i reach that grand stage of life. and your taste in artists is so nice. i'm not very good at broadening my field on artists because i never know what to look for. so i'm glad i have your gallery to use as a reference to artists that i would like to dwell into. i can't remember. i need to check your gallery, because i would really like to see wall from you. because you have a nice eye for stuff, i just want to see your stuff. but oh well, we all go at our own pace. and my pace is really full now. so many things i've started. its rather unpleasant with school starting up soon and those projects coming, and my own endeavor getting all mixed up with each other and my studies into animation constantly being put off because of all the other stuff i've started and told myself i would finish. ah. well
enough of that. keep it real real my friend.

yes, i am of advanced years- i have dwelled through the ages for 6,666 years. thanks for the drawing as well- i may end up looking like that in 30 years. ^^

seriously, smilebit i really appreciate this gb post. i noticed your wallpapers in DC's favorite section a long time ago. i thought to myself here is a guy [you] whom creates artwork that is truly unique and personal. my requirements for great art are simply: perspective and perception. if these 2 intangible "concepts" are meet i am happy. but part of me is saddened that others haven't had the oppurtunity to sample your great artwork. this saddens me slightly but i know that this will not stop you from making your original posters and wallpapers.

well people seem to think i have good taste in art and i suppose this is so; but im not sure recognizing greatness is akin to being great yourself. let me expain this way. when it comes to music and art i seem to be able to get into a "zone" of sorts and can "understand" what the lyrical poetry is or what Yoshitaka Amano is "saying" through his painting. i really do keep an open mind and have submitted scans of works that i know have merit but others may find weird or strange. luckily people seem to like my gallery and have made many incredible walls from it.

i have an idea- obviously you don't have unlimited time to scope through 440 scans so i will send you an artboook via email. all i ask is that you kee an open mind and perhaps you will discover a few new artists that you enjoy. in return you can perhaps give me a little guidance on the wallpaper front.

Quote by smilebitdream. he is my hero. i'm really getting teary eyed here. i'm so proud that he is with us. dream to the finish.
wait, i don't believe in death. what then do i conquer? if anything.

thanks smilebit - i appreciate that man. hopefully my addition to the team won't result in a tactial deficiency.
