I have to say that your thread on the US president really generated a lot of
good debate (and some not-so-good debate). I do have a couple of points that I
want to bring up though as the president of one of the country's leading Model
UN teams, in case you would like to be able to improve your arguments whether
for future debates or for papers you write for college.
Quote: It's logical, but did I tell
you that Bush cheated when trying to get into office again?
This is a talking point; it is not an argument in and of itself, but rather can
be used to further or support an argument. If you went on to point out specific
instances of fraud, then you would have a solid case that the other side would
be hard-pressed to refute.
Quote: Bush is so worried about one
country that he doesn't even know what other countries are thinking about him. I
don't mean to be so one-sided, but this is true.
When it
comes to debate, the only thing that is "true" is hard data, and
therefore any interpretation of hard data is opinion and not truth. If you make
an assersion, you're already taking a side, and if you immediately (and
mistakenly) label it as truth, then you've blinded yourself to all of the other
possible (and valid) interpretations of the same data.
*grin* I'm probably boring you to tears here, but if you're interested in
improving your argumentation and debate skills and in turn to learn what you can
here, feel free to take a look at http://groups.minitokyo.net/order-of-reason/
, a new group that is devoted to increasing the level of discussion in the
forums. Its members are people from all over the world with widely varied
opinions and backgrounds, but who all are willing to be listen to other people,
discuss views, and in turn learn more about the world around them. We would
love to have you!

are similar in meaning, so don't be fooled. At the end, the topics you can

Plz read the rules for MT. Check before you make threads because some of your
threads have been make before you have make them.
EDIT: Thx you man for understanding me. I've been closing down 50 billion
threads each day. If you see a topic you know has been duped before, tell them
it has been made before them and use the holy search function (on the top right
corner) to check if the thread has been made before or not.
Here are som common thread topics that I can't stand to be made.
1. Fav anime or most hated anime
2. Do you like________?
3. Fav game
4. Basically anything that has to do with "fav"
