And corinn has a point. So I'm showing you how it looks with green and blue. Of course, it doesn't have to look so abstract.. And the background is an example of how nice the brush in Photoshop is to use. You can set shape dynamics, and smudge.. and it gives a nice ripple look. You should try and get a Photoshop, noel!

Oh yeah, it is Tsubasa, forgot to mention that.. It's Sakura and Shaoran as kids.. Noel, sorry to bother you but do you have any leads as to where you really got the image from? We might need to give credit..

For the others.. this was the original picture. Compare? The lines were a bit jaggy and I was lazy to vector anymore (I extract with the pen tool) so I ended up smudging, burning, and painting it..

The original idea was a flower field. Make sure that you use at least two layers for that! One for the front so it covers part of there feet; and one for the background. yuppers..2 weeks left and then back to school to start grade 11 time pass so fast..it seems like I'm only grade 9 yesterday.. ..that's great..

yup..we were suppose to get CS2, but my dad said why not get the latest version so we did..yup I've been playing with it..I just learned how to create gif images, but I'm still learning the painting stuff..

For snow you could paint it. You could put a really light coloured, bluish gradient as the back. Then paint over it with white, and smudge smudge! Actually, I could do the snow painting better if I used Artrage personally.. It feels more like the real thing and the colours flow more naturally! Wanna try it out?

Rima's power is electric. So they're really using the elements.. Fire, Water, Wind, Electric.. Shiki's a lone wolf, what with blood as his medium.. When I saw the OP, I thought Ichijou's power was Earth. Because the ground was breaking up and everything.. but we only see his sword in VK manga. Which is similar to Cross'.. Hmm.. Cross' became cool btw. And it seems that what I've seen on some blogs suggest that they already know about his real connection with vampires! >.> How come?! It hasn't even come out yet!

Maybe I'll vector the lineart for one of my doujins.. That would be nice.. then paint it.. That doujin with the roses actually looks better in my mind's eye.. The cloth is a rich deep colour, shifting nuances from purple to that of wine.. and then contrasting white turfs of waves.. and the mauve of roses.. Yea, I want to get it out in colour!

Yeah, censorship can be such a pain.. I remember that they were censoring certain lines that the actors on TV said through the Malay subs.. The actors weren't actually using any foul language but they were..erm.. implying something..lewd. So the subs were completely different and lame from what they were actually said.. Actually that was kind of hilarious seeing how the subbers translated it. And sometimes little words like "fire!" were translated into "Api!" when it should have beem "Tembak!" Worse still was "duck" which the subbers must have been subtitling in their sleep. I mean, who says "itik" when there's a rock hurtling towards them?

Taiwan?! Wow.. good shopping? Hope you had fun.. And I'm behind my anime too.. now just pursuing Nabari no Ou and D Gray Man.. Their main protagonists are like polar opposites though. Miharu's so apathetic and nonchalant yet in actual fact cares a lot about others; Allen's acts warm and protective but actually has a dark side that is bent on tracking down Akuma, and is possibly one himself. Whoo, that makes it more interesting though no?

I'm watching D Gray Man on Youtube again, btw. For some reason when I tried to use the site you gave me, I keep getting linked to a hentai series instead.. But I appreciate the help, I know you meant well! Just finished Episode 70.. was quite upset that Fou had to take the blow.. I knew a dark theme like that would come up simply to push Allen over the edge so that he would get back his Innocence, but still.. Well, your walls look professional! Really, they look classic, especially the SZS ones. I didn't use the 1600 x 1200 version because it's the texture that pulled me in.. I like how deep and calming it looks.. It looks Zen on my 1024 x 768 desktop, and everyone seems to have been okay with it too. Win-win!

Actually, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be called K-rated.. but yeah, what the actual scene was kind of explicitly suggestive if you get what I mean, even though there wasn't much er..exposure. It's a drama but also kind of comedic.. One thing I like is that unlike some dramas, the characters manage to be kind of shifting yet still understandable.

Oh that guy's the Millenium Earl. Yeah, when I first saw that doujin, I thought of the Penguin too. But frankly I would be more scared of the Earl than the Penguin... Penguin's a violent wannabe world-dominator.. The Earl looks like he's laughing all the time but he's a very cunning one.. being able to scheme, create demons, deflect attacks and still stay calm, makes him very hard to go against.. Hardly anyone in the anime actually dared to confront the Earl himself. Of course, the balance will be tipped a bit..

Yes, I am still doing that summer vacation project lol. I started it about 13 weeks ago, I'm just too lazy to want to work on it. Same with the Bamboo Blade one. Actually, 'someone' has said that I really should stop drawing this sort of thing, and go concentrate on my studies.. then on real art. Meaning watercolours, acrylics, oils of sceneries, still life, that sort of thing.. Well, I wouldn't mind but I don't want to totally abandon my manga style.. But that's what 'someone' is suggesting, obviously. ..Sigh.. I suppose I should push myself to do something that can be more 'universally appreciated', if you can get what I mean. But I really can't do as much detail with the other mediums as I can with pencils.

Well you never know, there are a lot of pencil rendered pictures in the elite gallery. It's all about the amount of effort put into them I think. It does look like you spend some time on your pictures. Once you get computer time again, if you paint or vector any of those... elite for sure, who knows maybe even a highlight (since it seems you need to do an original to get a highlight).

Aw...that stinks. I think anyone who can draw anime/manga style artwork can go far. Though realistic looking paintings can fit a lot more detail and realism in them, I think it's harder to sell them. People are really picky when it comes to artwork like that. I've come across a lot of incredible artists in the anime/manga like paintings on deviantART (even though they are more realistic than most anime). I don't know...I think both types of paintings has its advantages. ._.

Oh yeah...Tama-chan wallies x 1000. I feel bad though, because I've said that Enma Ai was my one and only, but now I really like Tama-chan. I feel dirty...

Oh yes...I've been having that problem too. It is quite troublesome. Like you mentioned, the Edit links were gone (both on the submissions and your comments and stuff). As well as the front page never loaded properly (only the links and stuff worked, the pictures never loaded). And again like you said, some submissions' thumbnails didn't work. It seems that it is under control now (let's hope...). Can't wait for the new edition of MT, hopefully it eliminates all problems... ._.

Artrage worked fine! There was a few serials in the readme file, actually.. so I used one! Current show I'm watching over someone's shoulder; Fated To Love You. Have to say it's quite funny and more enjoyable watching with another person. Total LOL at their so-called K-rated scene.. because one was sick, the other drugged with some traditional medicine to make him er.. horny? And both confused each other with other people. OK that didn't actually sound funny written out like that.. But how the producers expressed it with way too many candles, missiles being blasted from warships AND trains, to boot was way too off tangent not to laugh at. Then, he proposes and says" I love you, Anna." The response was priceless. " I love you, Gou H- Wait, who's Anna?" "Who's Gou?" Turn on lights. "WTH" Okay, I think I got the name wrong but we were laughing madly at it. It's Chinese by the way, or maybe Taiwanese is more accurate..

Ah, that is good that it works. It's a fun program, but I can't seem to want to use anything other than PS CS2 even though I got all this other junk. And totally...you should make some doujin, even if it requires some sneaking around.

Well a gradient mesh works similar to the warp feature actually. Except depending on how you warp the grid, the gradient gets added that way. You can add more or less points in the grid to make the gradient smaller or larger. Basically though, it's good for when you want to apply a gradient to a curved object. Since in Photoshop, as you probably know, can only do straight, radial, linear, or reflected. Maybe that wasn't the best explanation. I still have trouble using it too...but it's great for making stuff look 3D. Like this.

I still CS2 so my warp is still the same. There are ways to make it more flexible though. You can warp small portions of the image instead of the whole thing. You can use your marquee tool and select the area you want to warp and then press Ctrl + T > Warp. That way you can only move the area you want, instead of everything around it. I don't know if you already knew that, just thought I'd tell you.

I am loyal to Enma AI! Lol. But as much as I hate to admit, she isn't a real person. And it would be a little creepy to choose an anime character over a human... But in the computer world I guess, Enma is #1 for me.

For download sites, Joox has a pretty decent selection. They always are changing their content, so you have to grab what you want before it gets removed. I looked on there, but they only have 2 DGM episodes. Animecrunch is another good site. They have toooons of series on there. It is streaming video though, I don't think you can download them. If you really want to download good quality versions, either get the torrent from a site like [url=www.mininova.org]Mininova[/url] or the fansub group that did the series. Avi is good quality, but if you want, you can try MKV files. They have softsub subtitles which means you can watch the show without subs if you want, and the resolution is usually higher. You need a program like Windows Media Player Classic to play those though. And don't worry, video files are safe, you can see what you are downloading when you add the torrent to your bit torrent client. If there is anything else in there besides the video file (and maybe a ReadMe file to show where the original video was downloaded from), you can choose not to download it. I've been downloading anime this way (and J-dramas and movies) this way for years and have yet to get anything suspicious. It is only programs you have to be careful about.

I'm sorry to hear about you having to wait all the way until December to do some art! It's such a long ways away too.. Well, do your best to do what you can, maybe you can work something out with your parents, like studying for X amount of hours will give you Y amount of time on the computer to do art projects. It is good motivation to do your studying because you have a reward if you do. My parents used to do that with me, it was a pain, but I wanted computer time so I did it!

A K-rated scene?! :O How bad is that? Like X-rated? It sounds like an interesting show. The title makes it sound like a drama, so I'm going to have to check it out too..

So what episode are you on for Samurai Champloo? It's cool, no? Funny, I recommended Claymore but I've never watched it.. But apparently it must be good. D Gray Man..well I think you should start off with the anime then read the manga because for the beginning part, the anme feels more thrilling. The details for the manga are more intense though. And in the middle of the anime, you might have to go through a few fillers which irritated some. Not me, though. I think some of the fillers had a good point about the war and the lengths people go to to survive..

Gun X Sword was kind of fun in its own way.. I had to laugh at both the jap voices and dubs though. The dubs for Van and Wendy were quite okay (Van's dub actually sounded younger and more like his age and..jerkness) but the side charas.. eh. Especially Comrade's. I guess some of the episodes I watched probably were censored (example: the episode about the swimsuits kingdom lol) but veoh seemed to have all the uncensored episodes And Comrade's voice creeped me out in japanese dubbed haven't heard him in dubbed and I don't think I even want to either but yeah Van's was pretty good.

Well now that Gun x sword is over I'm going to watch Shigofumi: ~Stories of Last Letter~! So far I'm on episode 7 and I'm really enjoying this one! I decided to watch something different from all the animes I've seem lately and thought why not try a drama anime^^

hehehe my summer break lasts till August 11 but the final week of summer break is always busy because we have to start preparing I plan to study little by little in the July twentieths to refresh my memory of all the stuff I learned...hehehe luckily one of my classes was media and i've been studying photoshop all summer Have you ever had something you needed to study for school but already had lots of knowledge of it?

Anyway I was in animenewsnetwork and they had some videos there of the anime expo that happened recently in America, they were talking about how fan subs could be the death of anime and all that and I felt kinda awkward when they said even if you pay to watch fan subs your still not supporting the anime industry It's a good thing I made an oath to only watch subbed anime online that haven't been licensed yet^^...Oh that reminds me I have to get to ep 52 of D gray man before 2009 since thats when FUNimations starts producing the episodes 1-51 here What do you think of fan subs? just wondering

Can't believe that people can get beat up just because of how they dress. I mean, it's not like we're living in the dark ages or something, people really should be less primitive than that! It's animal instinct.. we always have to compete or fight over something.. I mean, even in our best intentions, we can't quite stop thinking of our differences, even if it isn't in a malicious sense.. Over here, we are supposed to be multi-racial and all that, and I admit we apparently have less conflict over this sort of issue than in some places.. but there still is this rift between some races, even dialects. And sometimes it is unfortunately true that we annoy each other..

Anyway, moving on to lighter topics.. We didn' go to Taipei. We just had a competition between schools. After all, walk before running, no? Lego fan eh? I'm surprised at how people seem to react when I tell them that Robotics is done with Lego.. I expected stiff, polite replies( "that's old but it's okay! Haha" ) but instead you've all been rather enthusiastic.. Really surprising.. Yep, had fun with Lego when I was a kid.

MT can get frustrating all right. Though it does seem better now, less bugs and all. But, hey, glad that you're back! It was actually kinda funny seeing your page all white, because I was dumb enough to think that the page wasn't loading well or something. LOL I loved your layout; the one from your new wall, but with a black background. I thought that it looked edgy and dramatic. Your new layout is a sure sign of your fandom. Not everyone can handle being stared by the great Jigoku Shoujo.. Will sit down and make a proper layout when I actually have time.. probably in..mid-December? Telling you, schedule's busy..

Did Artrage work alright? After looking at it, I don't remember if it needed a serial or not. I don't think it did, but I can't remember.

Yeah, Illustrator is pretty cool, especially the gradient mesh feature. But I don't use it for lineart yet because the pen tool's hotkeys are too different from Photoshops and it confuses me.

:D Maybe I should move to Japan and tell her we were made for each other (huge fan btw....). Mine's on the 5th and her's the 6th.

You should try downloading torrents of anime or live action shows so you can watch stuff whenever you want to. That has to be a pain...watching over someone's shoulder! (and you are guaranteed high quality, which even Veoh sometimes has problems with..)

Really? It's so hard to tell if your page is going to look good or not because of all the different screen resolutions out there. Like with a 1920 x 1200 the picture only goes maybe a third-way across the screen, but when I switched to 1024 x 768, it went all the way across. It was huge! Whaaa, you must be really busy! December is a looong ways away... Well then again, maybe that isn't such a bad idea because I think they are making a new MT theme, therefore making all the userpages unusable. From what I understand anyways...

Hehe, yes, my long posts.. Don't worry, I probably wouldn't be writing as much nowadays. Aozora has to study! Blah. Not my fave excuse, but true..

Hmm, you mean an adventure/action/mystery sort? Well... I hear Claymore is good. It's about this girl who is a claymore, sort of a half monster whose duty is to kill the real monsters, or something like that.. well, from what I heard, it's supposed to be really thrilling and lots of gory action. Whee~ Other stuff I like are D Gray Man, and Samurai Champloo. You could take a look at Samurai 7, if you like, for some cool swordplay action, as well as a somewhat gripping plot. You can search for videos of Samurai Champloo and D Gray Man on Veoh, since you are in New York. America hasn't been blocked..Unlike most of Asia, Africe, East Europe and South America! Gah!

An anime that stands out for its daring, bold streak and fusion of R&B as well as good old Japanese culture. I find it a hilarious yet profound watch, and oddly educative. Right from the beginning, we are told, "This work is not an accurate historical portrayal. LIKE WE CARE. Now shut up and enjoy the show." Which pushes us right into the defiant and cynical mood that characterizes Samurai Champloo at once. :P

Despite the fact that the story is set in feudal Japan, we get a blend of hip hop, modern culture, titbits of western cum the east history, Japanese traditions, fighting arts and best of all, humour you will never get back then! haha. Summary: Fuu works in a restaurant until she accidentally irritates some thugs. She is 'rescued' by Mugen...for an odd price. Mugen kicks the thugs' a**es but makes an even worse ruckus. Enter Jin and a fight begins. Unfortunately circumstances are not meant to be and they are interrupted and sent to execution. One thing leads to another and they end up tagging Fuu to look for a specific someone.. very much a reluctant trio.

First character : Fuu. A 15 year old girl with a hardworking but stubborn streak, working as a waitress, Fuu might come off as your typical 'pretty face' shoujo; but nope. Along with the other two main characters, she is not to be underestimated! Possibly useless in fighting, she is still formidable as this girl stores a dash of cunning, much determination and... an unbelievable appetite! Pics:

Second chara: Mugen. Comes off as surly, selfish, and stubborn. And sticks to it. Haha. No worries, there IS character development. But without this character, the show wouldn't be so darn funny. Mugen is a wandering samurai who fights for ...food. Talk about motivated.. His skills as a fighter are awesome though. Not only is he handy with his sword (erm, that sounded weird), his fighting style has been compared to a mixture of breakdance+martial arts+capoeira . There aren't many good pics of him out there... He's the type that looks better in action, with his shifting expressions, and rapid acrobatics. So if you wanna know him... watch him!

Third chara : Jin. *blush* It's hard not to fall for him after I watched the last few episodes, forgive me. At first, one would think that he is the typical stereotype for the 'cool guy'. Dark locks, mysterious, attractive demeanor... but in the end, flat.. however, thankfully, that's not all there is to him! This samurai possesses deadly skills yet he too is a wanderer, hiring himself out. Stoic and calm as he is, he too has his dark secret. It isn't too obvious, luckily. But man, he looked so good in the last few episodes..

Mugen and him hold a grudge against each other because both are equal in a fight ... a fight that was not resolved due to interference... and they sure don't like each other..

All in all, Samurai Champloo proves to be thrilling despite its somewhat episodic style. With its disregard for real, down-to-earth facts, it pokes fun at some issues, providing a humorous watch that is comparable to that of Ouran... and somehow, it makes me more aware of Japan's historical and political issues..

I definitely recommend it to those who can keep an open mind and want a good mix of laughs, action, mind stimulation and..hey, maybe even some love. Oh and I loved their ending theme "Shiki no Uta".

Told you it would be long. I should write a proper review for Minitokyo someday..

(I'm being sarcastic, just so you know) . Nabari no Ou is kinda intriguing... I get the feeling that not everyone is telling the whole truth.. so there's lots more to find out as it goes along.. and me love the art! The chara designs are so clean..

Oh yes, the palette tool for Artrage; nifty thing that is. It's almost like the smudge tool in Photoshop, only more realistic. It's nicer to use if there are layers though.. back then, I didn't have the layers option so it was messy.. So you're learning to paint too?

I never had a scanner.. Sad.. so I'm not at all sure at how to answer that..

This might sound vain, but I look forward to seeing my art here too. It's taking my friend ages to scan them.. Oh the robotics competition wasn't as cool as that! Wouldn't mind if it was actual battle. >:-> But anyway, it's basically like this: We are given a track and a task, in this case to plant (shove or carry, actually) some erm.. bits and odds, into squares on the track. So speed and efficiency matter. I was in charge of programming which felt like Photoshopping to me, for some reason.. Had to change the speeds and times in the last minute because it turned out that the initial speed was too fast and we kept losing grip of the 'plant'. *rolls eyes* They kept emphasising on speed and lookie.. That's good that you got WinRar.. And don't worry, it doesn't do much besides just open archives or .Zips (and make them...). You'll see once I give you Artrage (which I will upload for tomorrow). All you have to do is right click on the file and go to "Extract here." Oh yeah, and actually for Photoshop CS3, I have something even better now...I downloaded the Adobe CS3 Master Collection Corporate Edition. . Which has everything...and I mean everything. Takes up a lot of space on your taskbar though. I'll try packing that and giving that to you too.

Maybe some branches(leaves or sakura, up to you), you know, like really dark silhouettes against the background..nice if you can get red strings sort of hanging, web-like on the branches...best from a perspective that shows the floor too. I suppose since Kain controls fire.. some flames might do. If you want pretty... take away the blood and make it all brighter. And maybe some snow..

I skipped episode 50of D Gray Man. Watched Spanish subs for 51, 52, 55, 56. Not good since I have very little idea on what they were talking about. Had to very roughly translate the subs and listen to the Japanese.. Found an English version of 54, thankfully. And ended up reading the subs from a website that hosts screenshots LOL. Well, they also had the downloads but they don't work on my computer.. Allen! Poor him! I know that he will survive but still.. T.T . Trust the subs to kill the mood..

Ended up watching the omake videos. Very funny! I've also been reading a lot of fanfic.. I don't quite support all those LavixAllen, Yullen thingies, but I find some rather hilarious. Like how Komui finding the Internet has Lavi blackmailing poor Allen into a AreKan.. "AreKan? Is that the name of some evil overlord?" "Take a good look." *Allen stares* "NNNOOOO!" *goes crazy* (Total LOL!) Lavi : "And I haven't even shown him the doujinshi yet.."

There is such a soulfulness and innocence in his expression and eyes.. Something about this reminds me of D Gray Man's Allen.. I think that it is because of his pose. I'm impressed how you've been able to analyze my art, even down to the very last detail. You've been able to dig up where my inspiration came from, which many people can never do. You are indeed correct, the character does resemble Allen somewhat. I was on a D Gray Man marathon (all day watching the anime lol=no life) while working on this piece. I had intended to draw a D Gray Man fanart, but changed my mind after I came up with the new concept of a magician. The buildings where somewhat inspired by D Gray Man, but a majority of them where also used in a previous drawing of mine, Everett.

The clocks are an important factor and I'm glad you didn't overlook them in your analysis. You are close in your analysis but there's a bit more detail. There are 2 clocks - One represents time in the real world and the other represents time when he's set up the trick. And because time seems to move faster when we are having fun, one clock is set during is trick to move time slower, while the other is real world time. (So there is more time to play with his books, without wasting real world time) I hope that made sense This concept of clocks is also inspired by D Grey Mans character, Miranda. ;D

Actually, I did a little review for Nabari no Ou in Rainfalling Love before.. . Well, what I like about Nabari no Ou is that their main character, Miharu is such an enigma! He acts so indifferent sometimes yet has a slightly devilish side.. he doesn't mind at all to use his 'charms' to get his way.. >:-> Haha. But despite his apathy, it turns out that he does care.. he just doesn't want to show it.. He's kind of lovable, but in an unusual way.. Well, you just have to watch their first episode to get it! I think I might recommend this..

What type of anime I like? Well, hmm... er.. no specific type really.. I just know I can't stand anime with an overload of ecchi and not-at-all funny 'humour'. I didn't like Magikano at all other than maybe, its first episode and the one about the play.. But what I really love are anime that can keep a sense of mystery, some action, actual intelligence, and still be hilarious. Samurai Champloo was awesome, in that sense. Except for episode 22 with the weird crack about aliens and the nuclear mushroom cloud. Seriously off tangent, that was.. Of course, it's also nice to watch anime with good art. Like the only Gonzo production that got it right; Gankutsuou. ^.^ As for mecha.. only if the mecha is actually high quality. I mean, it's no fun to watch sluggish, crude robots bashing at each other anymore, is it?

I've watched Read Or Die too! I wish there was a bit more development though.. and I want to see more Paper action! :P

Extraction... here's a tutorial using the pen tool if you want to do it yourself.. I think the pen tool is best for this because you can change the shape at leisure whereas with a lasso tool, one wrong movement and the whole thing could be ruined!
