Hey man, damn, they quarantined your Roger vector cross submission! I was looking forward to seeing the full-view. I pretty much burst out laughing when I saw the preview on the vectory page! Well...hopefully they let you use it for the contest because that was like a 10/10 on the creativity scale.

Personally, I like the one with the wall better. Though, there are some things you could add to make it better. It could try to put some graffiti on the wall, or something. That's look pretty rad. Also, I dunno if you should go with blue. You could try warm colors to see how they would look, then compare the two to choose which looks better. Also, maybe add some fog-like effects, and de-saturate the wallpaper to make it darker. It'd make the wallpaper moody, but I think it would fit the look on the character's face. Just a few suggestions. :B

I finished it so fast because I chose such an easy scan to vector. The only part that took any time was making the textures. And I saw your comment! I'm glad you like it. If you think this one is scary, just wait until the next time I make a dark wallie. I already have a concept in mind, and the scan I'm gonna use is gonna probably give some people nightmare.

Yup, I ended up using my first idea! It doesn't always work that way, however. For instance, for that clown one, I originally wanted the clown to by dying in a circus-like environment, with a lot of mist and a more spooky atmosphere. Instead I ended up having him dying in an city street, with a more peaceful atmosphere. And I don't think you have one style. Your newest wallpaper (that I just saw, gonna go comment on it after this) is in a different stle than your other wallpapers. Even your Shiki wallpaper is in a different style than the one you made before it.

Yeah, and I love your new layout! I kinda want to make a new profile layout for me (which I need to update with info and stuff anyway), but I just haven't found any time to do it.

Please keep it up, I'm into horrors more than anything. Horror walls, movies, games (F.E.A.R is luv <3) and I'm glad to see that someone manages to illustrate horror scenes in an artistic way!

Eh... the pattern idea did not work out as I had hoped, so I'm going in a different direction. The style of the wallpaper will be a mix of my L'omicidio al Carnevale wallpaper, and my Pull The Pin In Style wallpaper. I hope it turns out the way I am invisioning it. I'm actually almost done. I got lazy and decided to vector a really simple scan, that has a lot of shadow - which works, because darkness is the focus afterall.

I had several ideas for that wallpaper. Different color scheme ideas, different ideas for the theme, different ideas for the style of vectoring, etc. My very first idea for the wall was to have the face and eyes removed, use a simple vectoring style, keep their skin sheet-white, and use a pinkish/maroon color scheme.

About what I said:
I didn't mean it that negative. Actually I just thought that Gankutsuou often uses very bright and shinig colours, whereas I tend to use earthy and muted colours. That's why it was a little hard for me to vector in typical Gankutsuou style. Even if I use textures and patterns a lot I can't really break my habit when it comes to the colours, but I'm glad you like the vector as it is.

Digital art. But techiniquely, it's not a real job. It's more like a series of projects I'm getting paid to complete. My brother and I are working as a team. He draws something on paper, then I scan it, color it, and create a background. It's not too hard of work, but it's been keeping me busy in the evenings.

Normally, I would've said a month is plenty of time to finish a wallpaper.... but I think it's been close to a month that I haven't submitted anything new. >.>

I prefer wallpapers that aren't of the popular style. Probably because it just looks different artistically. I mean, sometimes all of the gallery items in the popular section look like they could've been made by one person. Not all the time, but I used to see it a lot a while back. Also, I get excited when I see people doing things I've never seen before!
And Google doesn't always provide ya with good textures, which is why I use several different search engines. Ya might also want to try finding stock photos of different natural textures found in nature - like a stary sky, or bark from a tree. Then try adding effects to those before you blend them together. That's how I created the textures for my Caged Freedom wallpaper.

Mine screen resolution is 1024 x 768. :B

The scan I vectored was quite easy... The character's hair and shirt is all black and I didn't add any shadows stuffs on the shirt and hair. The only thing I color is the highlight in the hair, face and one eye Easy huh?

Hey, yeah I wonder what's been going on with MT lately...lots of bugs. I did see a little bit of your Lovely Complex wallpaper when I downloaded it. From what I saw, it looked really cool ^^ With the little Otani being held by Koizumi. Hopefully MT gets fixed soon so you can reupload it because LC was one of my favorite series and there aren't many wallpapers for it and your paper will be a good edition.

It's fun to have one's own style sometimes. The only problem is that my style isn't in the "popular" style, so my wallpapers are usually underappreciated for all the work I put into them. Oh well though. :B
A good way to find textures is google. Just type in random words that would be related to textures. And maybe you can create a method of blending textures around. Like (this is an example) blending a rusty, metalic surface, with something like a close up of woven cotton. Might be cool when blended with other effects and brushes?

Oh, and I keep forgetting to ask you: what's your screen resolution? I son't want to make a wallpaper that's too small or too big.

Yes, I will be able to finish it as soon as I finish your present! I'm actually almost done lining it (finally). I only have two parts to finish lining. For me, that's always the longest stage. The rest of it all basically falls together rather fast. I should have your gift ready for you on your birthday. Why it's been taking me so long is because I can only work on it during the day. After 8 pm, I have to work on an art job that someone is paying me to do. And I didn't mean starting over on the dark wallies project. I was thinking that I might do a completely different idea. But I don't think that I should, seeing how she only extended the deadline by 2 weeks. I dunno if I'd have enough time to put something together in 2 weeks from scratch.

Wow, you're in no rush so I doubt you'll have to skip sleep to finish a wallpaper. Besides, I want you to do your very best on this. You should make this something of a side project that you work on at your leisure. Try some new things with it! Maybe look at it with a different angle and think of something completely creative or something! No matter how you do it, I'm gonna love it. Just do your very best with it! Because that's what I value the most - when growing artists put as much effort as they can into their work! So yeah, I don't think my birthday present is a big priority or anything. ^^

Thank you! And I only try to use textures in a different way than how I've seen - which is probaby why some people have said my wallpapers look unique. And yeah, if you decide to use textures for my present, go for it! Be as creative as possible and it'll rock! Just take your time with it. If something doesn't look perfect to you the first time, delete that part you're not happy with and try something new until your 99% sure that you like your work (no one can be 100% happy unless they are egoists =P).

I feel ashamed by saying this I feel lazy = = Mine's 1:5 and yours is 1:6 ... It's kinda similar... After I submit my next wallpaper, the ratio will be the same as ours It's kinda rare for me to get an elite gallery = =

And I'm finishing the coloring of your vector... But now I feel like vectoring another Maggie because it looks so.... simple and small.... I take the longest time for lining then coloring... But these days I get bored at the coloring part.... And Wow! You have an art job! The thing that makes this wallpaper kind of difficult is that the metal gear girl is perfectly sideways, meaning I need a perfectly sideways background - like something in a 2D fighting game. And because I was limiting myself to an indoor environment, I could find any good screenshots of a 2D fighting game battle stage. Maybe because I'm no longer doing it for the contest I'll be able to find something?

Yeah, it'll be a lot easier, seeing how I no longer have to limit my search for primarily indoor scenery. Contest ends.... next week and a half, or something, right? I doubt I'll be able to find something and finish the wall in that time when I still haven't finished lining the vector for your present. ^^'

I have a trick when it comes to textures. What I do is find pictures of various textures found in nature - like a crumbling wall or a rust-covered pipe - and mix them together. I do this my using the transparency with the program I use (I don't use photoshop much, so I dunno if it has that or not). I fade the many different textures over eachother as well as changing the colors of the seperate layers a bit. In the end I create a totally unique texture. It's kinda hard to explain, and must seem difficult, but it's actuallyreally easy to do.

There are a few scans I have laying around that I've been wanting to use that would fit the theme perfectly.
My birthday isn't for another month, so you have more than enough time to finish it. And if for some reason you can't finish it for my birthday, no biggie. Take as much time on it as you need. ^^

No, I don't think so. Black mailing would be if I had something of his that he didn't want others to see, and I forced him to do something for me, or else I would show people the 'something'. I'm just calling in a favor that he owes me for doing a favor for him. =P

The sole reason why I use textures is because my work turns out better when I do, rather than when I don't, in my opinion. I think all of my elite wallpapers (I don't have many) have some textures. But I plan on using minimul textures on the wallpaper I'm making for you. ^^

It's kinda difficult in the fact that the pics are kind of.... sketchy and I'm completely changing the style so it's more.... bold I guess. But it's more time consuming than difficult. I'm currently coloring it right now.... but only the base colors. Then I need to go on a hunt for some camo textures and stuff. If I work dilegently, I should finish it in 2 to 3 days. do more of a childish thing and lift my hand up making it the certain

Don't worry, I'm gonna finish it. Once I start on a wallpaper, I always finish it. But I only start on a wallpaper when it passes the design stages (meaning if I can do what I have in mind >.>). Uhhhh, only the Dark-Wallies one has a deadline this months (as well as Aniwood, but I ain't doing that anymore). Vectory's is middle of next month, I think, so I still have enough time. And Celestial-Luminesse's ends sometime in August, so that'll be the last project I work on. I already know which order I shall be making all these wallpapers.
Dark-Wallies > Your Wallpaper > Vectory > Celestial-Luminesse

I'm sure you'll come up with something by the time you finish coloring it. I'm not to skilled when it comes to a background. I've only made one wallpaper that involved scenery and that was because the contest requires it. Is this vector you're working on for one of the contests?

I wasn't going to join the indoor competition either until my brother found this really awesome Metal Gear AC!D scan. I literally said, "Oh my God, I am so vectoring that." The only problem is that it's taking longer to line than I thought. I'm about 3/4 done though, so it's not too much of a problem. I just wanted to finish this so that I can start on your present! I still have 16 days though, so I should have plenty of time. 8d

Well thank you. The only problem with almost always making abstract wallpapers is that it's harder to make a background when it's required. That clown wallpaper was my first time making a background, and it was haaaaaaaard.

I can't wait until all these contests are over. I know that I don't have to participate, but I was kinda making it my goal to enter in every contest for the groups I'm part of. But now I know that it's hard to do that, especially when several contests are running at once. ^^;
