Quote by shoujoboyIt's pretty pointless
for me to go off and say what I thoght of your review, I'd end up redundant, so
instead I will comment on Silent Mobius itself. I actually saw a few episodes of
this show when Tech TV showed it on late night Anime Unleashed. Just the little
bit that I saw had me addicted. Then I bought the DVD's and was still loving
every minute of it. But the way the series concluded, not just the ending but
the latter half of the series, dissapointed the hell out of me. It was so
unfulfilling. I personally wouldn't have given the plot an 8 since the way a
show ends is a huge deciding factor in my overall scores. But that's because I'm
a harda$$.
Thanks again Sho. You may heap praise on my reviews - and continue to flatter my
ego (you can probably hear the "whoosh, whoosh" of my head inflating
here)
Anyways, if you liked the anime version this is one I'd strongly recommend you
invest in the manga if you haven't already done so, despite any prejudices you
may hold to reading manga. The manga at least concludes the story with a really
decent fight that'll leave the anime reeling if it was produced.

of. There are only a few names I see around this site that actually ring a bell
and yours is one of them. I really appreciate your support and I had no idea
there was someone out there that truly enjoyed my ramblings.
I hear you about the college thing. I got out of the military in December and am
looking at going back to finish my last two years of college here in August. I
know, I'm 24 and working on a degree... I'm behind. Cut me some slack. Hopefully
I'll still be able to dedicate myself to the things I love, but we'll see how
good I am at balancing.
As for reviews, I'm always looking for that next thing. I'm finishing up a
review on Sola and I've just gotten underway on Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru. It
never stops with me...
As for adding me as a friend, I certainly don't mind. Hopefully you won't mind
if I reciprocate that sentiment. Well, see you

Now that was unexpected. I'm glad my

No, seriously, your reviews are good. I'm not flattering you or something, lol,

just nod-nod nice reviews. Ramblings are good thing.
Owh? You were in the military during your degree? What degree course are you
taking actually? I think I remembered you mentioning law somewhere... correct me
if I'm wrong.
Thanks for the watch. I saw your latest review on Sola. Havent gotten a proper
personal-moment with the computer yet so since I am now, I'll be reading your

to do that because I bring fun wherever I go. I could just up and leave the site
and then what? THEN WHAT I ASK! If your answer is anything other than "we

lying. Otherwise my ego may be shattered beyond
repair.
You're infiltrating my guestbook now? oooh, what

Quote by Shoujoboy I could tell that
you had a thing for survival horror when seeing the Fatal Frame homepage, but
what about scary games in general? Just bringing that up because if you like the
whole scary aspect, a good bet would be Condemned 1 & 2, assuming you
haven't played them already or if you even enjoy FPS.
And even though my forte is RPG's, I do enjoy survival horror, so I'd be curious
to know what you find to be some of the best out there. A genre I enjoy... just
not too familiar with it all. Thanks for humoring
me.
I would love to play Condemned... I got to see a little bit of it when my
brother was playing, and it looked like fun. I'm saving up for an Xbox360, but
it will be a while before I can get one I
like to try different games, so I'm generally up for most games if they sound
interesting enough. My cousin actually introduced me to rpgs with Final Fantasy
VII and Suikoden II, and then my brother got me to play Silent Hill...
I don't really know where to begin with survival horror, especially since I
don't know what all you've played. There's alot of it that I myself haven't even
been able to play yet. I'm the most familiar with the Silent Hill & Fatal
Frame series, and they tend to be my favorites out of what I have played.
They're pretty artistic and place a lot of emphasis on exploration and detail,
as well as storyline.
Well, I could go on for a while about each game so let me put it this way, these
are what I own (all PS2 games): Silent Hill 1-4, Silent Hill Origins; Fatal Frame 1-3; Clock Tower
3; Haunting Ground; Kuon; Rule of
Rose; Parasite Eve 1 & 2; and
then the two I haven't finished are Siren
& Obscure. I've also played some of
Resident Evil... and this is really just a drop in the bucket for what is out
there.
They're all relatively different styles of games, so a lot of it just depends on
what aspects of a game you put the most emphasis on to be enjoyable. The two
I've played that I won't recommend
would be these two:
Rule of Rose - It's combat system is
pretty bad, and it's a long, repetitive game that has only 2 levels that are
mildly creepy at best. The characters are interesting and it has a nice variety
of weapons, but with the combat so severely lacking and the drudging storyling
these two highlights weren't really worth it.
Clock Tower 3 - It's interesting enough
as far as the story goes, but the basic set-up of the game is compared to what I
call the "spring-loaded-cat-syndome". The "spring loaded
cat" refers to in a scary movie when a cat or other object suddenly jumps
out and startles you. Clock Tower 3 revolves around this set-up, but it's
spring-loaded-cat is broken and keeps jumping out. So in the end it becomes more
cumbersome than scary, and it prevents you from taking time to really
investigate and observe everything around you.
I'm sorry if this isn't very helpful. I think I might be able to give you a
better recommendation if I knew what you really look for in a scary game. Well,
since this post has gone on for awhile I stop for now
Quote by shoujoboyA show you rated as
average ended up as the Anime Spotlight on the Maigetsu? Where were you to
protest that decision? For shame.
But I watched this after
the Anime Spotlight on the Maigetsu was written and published. Actually I more
or less decided to watch this after brom wrote that article to see for myself
what this series was like (though I guess I've heard about this series for a
while and have been wanting to check it out for a while)

As for the comment about the hardest game ever being Star Ocean 3 in 4-d mode...
I'd tend to believe that. I remember playing that in just normal, but I went for
all the battle trophies. Just the absurdity of getting some of those showed me
that game had some teeth to it. Honestly though, I'd probably say Shin Megami
Tensei Nocturne was the hardest game I've played. It was hard as hell on normal,
and the 2nd TUTORIAL enemy killed me on hard.
And that ends my return rant.
Aaah... Ranting... It lets off steam. Thanks for
the reply! I was scared away from Crisis Core after the movie and Dirge of
Cerberus, but I've still had the egging feeling that makes me want to try it
out. I don't know if Star Ocean 3 is the hardest game ever, but it's the hardest
one I've personally played that isn't a survival horror game. I guess you could
probably tell by my pseudo-rant earlier, but I really like difficult games (if
they require strategy and not reliant on luck), so I'll look into this Shin
Megami Tensei Nocturne... if I can
find it It's been a while since I've seen it at the game stores.
Anyways, thanks again for the input! Take care!

Quote by shoujoboyI shall be critical,
but hopefully in a constructive way. Hopefully you won't take this the wrong or
way... or hell I could be wrong entirely, but English isn't your first language
is it? There are a subject-verb agreement issues throughout and the punctuation
and sentence flow is sometimes hard to follow. It seems that you were objective
enough in your opinion, but it's certainly a hard one to follow at times. A good
proofreader is any writers best friend.
Also, it's hard to assume the reader knows anything about anything when you
write a review. Your assumption that all readers know KEY animation well kind of
weakens your scoring in that category. I know you said if we are reading this,
then we've likely seen it, but that isn't always the case. I know what KEY
animation looks like, but I've never once watched a show using it. Minor gripe,
but one nonetheless.
I'll be keeping an eye on where you go from here, I expect you'll be doing
better and better each time.
Thank you so much for your opinions. I really appreciate it, especially from
you, shoujoboy. Err, English IS technically my first language at home, but I
can't say much for the standard at our school. I
tend to got slightly haywire when reviewing, and I can't help but vent out my
likes or dislikes for the show itself, so technically, I go a bit out of hand.
But once again, arigatou~
Quote by shoujoboyThe Playstation 3
will be just fine, give it time. Microsoft and Nintendo have essentially used up
all their flagship titles already, while Sony still has theirs coming. Nintendo
is dominating the market right now, but once the whole obession with the
Gamecube version 2.0 (Wii) drops off, Sony is going to be there to fill in the
gap. Sony took a huge hit for the price point when they launched the PS3, but
with Blu-Ray winning the format war and all their major titles still to come
out, they will be just fine. I do find it slightly disturbing that all the games
that are releasing multi-platform are coming out horribly for the PS3...
hopefully that'll change soon.
I see, maybe i think too muck
Thanks for sharing that with me
Quote by shoujoboyThey may say the
price point isn't an issue for the shut down, but it's partially true. The
biggest factor is the reconcilliation going on in the American anime industry.
Geneon died off last year and since then ADV (who publishes Newtype) has been on
shaky ground. ADV went on an anime licensing blitz around 03-04 and just kept on
trucking after that. Much of what they have licensed hasn't even come out yet,
and with anime as a dying form in American (for purchase at least) ADV had to
find ways to shave off excess baggage. Since NTUSA wasn't producing profit, it
was best to kill it off and funnel their efforts elsewhere.
NTUSA had the unfortunate fate of being attached to ADV. If it were
independantly brought out here, much more attention could be paid to it. But
agian, they had to shave off excess waste and NTUSA got the ax. Hell, a lot of
anime companies now are just saying screw English dubs because they are too
expensive to produce and cut into the bottom line. Why do you think you are
seeing 13 episode sets come out now for $50 and less? Didn't 3 eps used to cost
$30 retail? Geneon, NTUSA... it's going downhill fast
kiddies.
Ya I read about what happened to Geneon and how anime is dying in america
(really sad), but I was unaware of the whole ADV issue, so thanks for the info.
Now I have to ask, let's just say the anime market regains stability, in your
opinion do you think there is a chance that they might bring back NTUSA?
merged: 03-28-2008 ~ 11:07am
Quote by shoujoboy From what I've read,
ADV is cancelling Newtype but reconcilling into a new magazine. Newtype in the
form it is now won't exist, but they are making a cheaper magazine to come out
at some point in the future.
Umm..I think that Magazine is called PiQ and it just hit the shelves this month.
I know that PiQ is replacing Newtype USA and most of the staff from NTUSA is now
working for it. I just received their first issue as a replacement for my lost
NTUSA issue. It definitely does not replace Newtype USA, the content is too
broad now. They cover topics such as american comics, tv shows and movies, where
as NTUSA was based solely on Japanese anime and manga.
Quote by shoujoboyYour reviews always
amaze me in that they seem to go far deeper than many reviewers ever care to.
Usually people have a very cut and dry description of the show with their own
two cents added in finally followed up by a score. You tend to really hash out
the details and lets the readers know a lot about what they might be getting
into should they decide to take the plunge into the series. Again I'm reminded I
have a long way to go to match your masterful word
usage.
Thanks again for your constructive comments. I always appreciate feedback from
fellow reviewers - and comments from one with your reputation always goes down
well. As for the masterful word usage - it comes with the territory ,
and I have to practice a it lot when writing reports for Council, the public,
and when I have to front-up as an expert witness in Court. I'm just pleased I
can also bring it into a forum I enjoy as a hobby.

Yea why not punish those who are successful. Jealousy accomplishes nothing in
this world, and these men got where they are by doing all the right things to
get there. Call it greed if you want, but killing them for being successful is
just sour grapes. Isn't that like using the Death Note on someone who won the
lottery because they won and you didn't?
i do agree, unless its for a purpose where you end up in a position you want to

obtain the position.

I just don't get that impression from your review. Sure, you use words like
fabulous, wonderful and special, but yet you couldn't manage to pull but one
paragraph for the greater part of your review sections to describe that feeling?
Take a little bit more time to be more detailed in the future and make the

all you can do from here is get better.
thanks for the advice! I'll include this stuff next time I review.
Quote by shoujoboyOk do me a favor,
take the middle finger on your right hand and smash it into a door. Tell it
"No!" until it learns it's lesson. I say that because your middle

breaks to maintain proper flow, not to litter every single sentence. It's ok to
outright stop a sentence with one of these guys "." I'd like to be
able to comment on the actual substance of the review itself, but I found it
impossible to really pull anything out of it outside of the poor grammar and
organization of the whole thing. Seriously, I say this to everybody with similar
problems... have someone else proofread your works. Things always look fantastic
to you because you wrote it. Get an objective opinion and you'll find that your
writing is far from perfect.

take any kind of offense to my comment, I just like to have some fun in the way
I put things. I can tell that you at least take care in your reviews and don't
just look to rant and rave like many reviewers do.
Yeah, cause let's be honest: there's more to reviews on MT than just the
mechanics. I was expecting feedback regarding the substance. Of course I have
had others say my other review scores were too high, others too low, the
rationale behind their critiques, and so on.
I'll pass on smashing my middle finger into the door, though. I won't be able to
wag it in the faces on my rivals when I head to a random sporting event.
Im sorry, but Im afraid I must disagree with you. I never really cared for the
video because I have seen others that actually present proof , and it is no real
surprise as to what would happen if the temperature does reach such a hight as
to start killing crops in regions. I do not at all like your example as to
Muslims and Americans, it is very stereotypical to say that just because someone
is of a certain religion that they are going to want to kill Americans. This
false situation does not relate to this man's argument because we are not
talking about killing people, but spending money to curb a disaster (Life vs
Money, Life vs Life). The reason Global Warming has been kept a myth is because
the government is not interested in spending money to make change, at least that
is what I think, its sad as well that the new Bali Roadmap is even less
effective than the Kyoto Protocol, at the request of the American Government,
Canada wasnt much better really, thanks to our Conservative Government. I have
seen several documentaries on global warming actually, the way the idea of such
a theory came about, was when scientists in Antarctica found that the yearly
temperature had risen in the last century. The way they track temperature back,
is by measuring the Oxygen bubbles in the ice, the size of the bubbles indicate
the temperature at that time, and since yearly snow falls compact into neat
distinguishable layers, it can be traced back even farther as older layers
compact into centuries and even farther. This is how we can see that is new
temperature is abnormal in the earth's temperature cycle. As well, there a
hurricanes that are the highest ever recorded, which can be traced the warming
oceans along with other odd weather patterns, as well as the dying coral reefs,
Glaciers are melting at alarming rates to the point of non-existence, a huge
chunks of the Antarctic roughly the size of Texas melted within a month (There
are factors involved, all brought on by the heating temperature), and thanks to
Global Dimming we have found out that the Global Temperature is rising almost
two times faster than expected, with it reaching 10 degrees (Celsius) higher
than normal by 2100, possibly even higher if the frozen methane at the bottom of
the ocean melts (approximately +13 if it all melts). You may ask for sources if
you like. Ill display them at your request.

I'm sorry if this isn't very helpful. I think I might be able to give you a better recommendation if I knew what you really look for in a scary game. Well, since this post has gone on for awhile I stop for now
But I watched this after the Anime Spotlight on the Maigetsu was written and published. Actually I more or less decided to watch this after brom wrote that article to see for myself what this series was like (though I guess I've heard about this series for a while and have been wanting to check it out for a while)
I have a writing style? O__o
Hey don't
just yell at me, what about those other people who never write?
>__<
Nah I'm not worried, not like you know my real name to be able to enter it into that website anyway =P
Aaah...
Megami Tensei Nocturne...
if I can
find it
It's been a while since I've seen it at the game stores.
Anyways, thanks again for the input! Take care!
Sho tryna woo the ladies with his tragic romance epic...
Nice work!

Thank you so much for your opinions. I really appreciate it, especially from you, shoujoboy. Err, English IS technically my first language at home, but I can't say much for the standard at our school.
I
tend to got slightly haywire when reviewing, and I can't help but vent out my
likes or dislikes for the show itself, so technically, I go a bit out of hand.
But once again, arigatou~
I see, maybe i think too muck
Thanks for sharing that with me
Ya I read about what happened to Geneon and how anime is dying in america (really sad), but I was unaware of the whole ADV issue, so thanks for the info. Now I have to ask, let's just say the anime market regains stability, in your opinion do you think there is a chance that they might bring back NTUSA?
merged: 03-28-2008 ~ 11:07am
Umm..I think that Magazine is called PiQ and it just hit the shelves this month. I know that PiQ is replacing Newtype USA and most of the staff from NTUSA is now working for it. I just received their first issue as a replacement for my lost NTUSA issue. It definitely does not replace Newtype USA, the content is too broad now. They cover topics such as american comics, tv shows and movies, where as NTUSA was based solely on Japanese anime and manga.
Thanks again for your constructive comments. I always appreciate feedback from fellow reviewers - and comments from one with your reputation always goes down well. As for the masterful word usage - it comes with the territory

i do agree, unless its for a purpose where you end up in a position you want to be, eg. like people that kill the president of the company in so that they can obtain the position.
thanks fo your post, i was kind of expecting people, like you, to come say stuff like that. well thank you once again
thanks for the advice! I'll include this stuff next time I review.
Thanks a lot, though I'd like to also get your take on the substance of my review. I was able to clean things up.
See you around and I hope you check out my other ones, if you haven't.

Yeah, cause let's be honest: there's more to reviews on MT than just the mechanics. I was expecting feedback regarding the substance. Of course I have had others say my other review scores were too high, others too low, the rationale behind their critiques, and so on.
I'll pass on smashing my middle finger into the door, though. I won't be able to wag it in the faces on my rivals when I head to a random sporting event.
Im sorry, but Im afraid I must disagree with you. I never really cared for the video because I have seen others that actually present proof , and it is no real surprise as to what would happen if the temperature does reach such a hight as to start killing crops in regions. I do not at all like your example as to Muslims and Americans, it is very stereotypical to say that just because someone is of a certain religion that they are going to want to kill Americans. This false situation does not relate to this man's argument because we are not talking about killing people, but spending money to curb a disaster (Life vs Money, Life vs Life). The reason Global Warming has been kept a myth is because the government is not interested in spending money to make change, at least that is what I think, its sad as well that the new Bali Roadmap is even less effective than the Kyoto Protocol, at the request of the American Government, Canada wasnt much better really, thanks to our Conservative Government. I have seen several documentaries on global warming actually, the way the idea of such a theory came about, was when scientists in Antarctica found that the yearly temperature had risen in the last century. The way they track temperature back, is by measuring the Oxygen bubbles in the ice, the size of the bubbles indicate the temperature at that time, and since yearly snow falls compact into neat distinguishable layers, it can be traced back even farther as older layers compact into centuries and even farther. This is how we can see that is new temperature is abnormal in the earth's temperature cycle. As well, there a hurricanes that are the highest ever recorded, which can be traced the warming oceans along with other odd weather patterns, as well as the dying coral reefs, Glaciers are melting at alarming rates to the point of non-existence, a huge chunks of the Antarctic roughly the size of Texas melted within a month (There are factors involved, all brought on by the heating temperature), and thanks to Global Dimming we have found out that the Global Temperature is rising almost two times faster than expected, with it reaching 10 degrees (Celsius) higher than normal by 2100, possibly even higher if the frozen methane at the bottom of the ocean melts (approximately +13 if it all melts). You may ask for sources if you like. Ill display them at your request.

Eeeeh~
My comment was a reply to MapleRose's post. She had asked about fight and action scenes. I was not jumping into conclusions but merely expressing my opinion about this anime.
Which part you did not understand?

Heheh...I'm glad things are clear now
Well then...
Have a nice day
See you around
Hey shoujoboy! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment on my Le Chevalier d'Eon and FMA reviews! I appreciate it very much, and I'm very glad that you liked them
- and you managed to get a giggle from me with that Le Chev comment - I'll be sure to get to work cleaning the bathroom as soon as I get the time

So have you watched it with the dub? And what did you mean by Geneon ruined your chances... Since I started it I wanna see the end... and that could be a problem if I can't get my hands on it... Actually, I wouldn't mind reading the manga of this - but again, it's a problem of trying to find it
Haha it didn't come across that fangirlish did it?
ah
wells - it was a little hard to review this because all the while I was thinking
'There's a 2nd Season, perhaps the little downfalls in this one will be
explained in the next one.'

Wow... yes yes I do believe you would be on the fav list of quote a few anime companies! I assume you keep the titles you like and sell the ones you don't (such as Noir). That's quite a collection!
I understand though why you would want to buy the DVDs. While I've become one of those anime fans now who love to watch it in it's original context (i.e. Japanese), with dubs becoming better and better nowadays, I am curious to see how it is pulled off
As for my review - I did try to take a more casual approach, but I guess it didn't work as well. Oh wells - its nice to play around with different writing styles
As always, thanks for reading and commenting!
