People care more about how they feel about the work than how the work was done, 'cause you're supose to say if it has some mistakes, or none, not if you like, or not, the way the person did the work. I can make an abstract work and probably won't have that much "favs" 'cause most people don't like it, even if it is a good work. For example, my latest work, i think it turned out ok, but most people don't like "original" works like that, they usually like anime vectors/wallpapers more... :S
